1. Prokaryotic Arsenic Resistance - Studies in Bacillus subtilis
Abstract : Arsenic is a toxic metalloid which is found all over the globe. Due to its toxicity and wide abundance, all living organisms have evolved intrinsic arsenic resistance systems. In this study, three proteins that provide arsenic resistance in the Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus subtilis have been investigated. READ MORE

2. Exposure to inorganic arsenic in pregnancy and metabolism-nutrition interaction
Abstract : Inorganic arsenic is metabolized by most mammals, including humans, via alternating reduction and oxidative methylation with S-adenosylmethionine as main methyl donor. Thus, it seems likely that it is influenced by the availability of methyl groups. READ MORE

3. Factors influencing the metabolism of inorganic arsenic in humans
Abstract : Inorganic arsenic (iAs), a naturally occurring drinking water contaminant, is a potent human carcinogen and toxicant. It is believed that in humans, as well as in most mammals, inorganic arsenic is biotransformed via reduction and methylation using one-carbon metabolism with S-adenosyl methionine (SAM) as methyl donor, and is excreted mainly in urine as dimethylarsinate (DMA) and methylarsonate (MA) as well as some unmethylated iAs (arsenate (As(V)) and arsenite (As(III)). 4. Assessment of thermal treatment of trace element contaminated soil
Abstract : Many contaminated sites in Sweden are characterised by a complex contamination situation with a mixture of organic and inorganic contaminants. For example, wood preservation with creosote, pentachlorophenol and chromated copper arsenate (CCA) has caused this kind of co-contaminated sites. READ MORE
