  1. 1. Electron microscopy and microanalysis of polymers and polymer blends : artifacts and applications

    Author : Henrik Lindberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial; Polymeric Composite Materials;

    Abstract : Electron microscopy and microanalysis is used to examine the degradation of unstainable polymers and polymer blends in order to gain an understanding and arrive at methods for characterizing microstructures. Several methods have been used in order to obtain complementary ways of establishing artifacts arising from specimen preparation effects, the internal energy of the components, and degradation under the electron beam together with low or zero contrast between phases in a blend. 3. 3. Metal artifacts in computed tomography : impact of reduction methods on image quality and radiotherapy treatment planning

    Author : Karin Andersson; Per Thunberg; Eva Norrman; Jan Persliden; Anders Tingberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; computed tomography; metal artifacts; image quality; visual grading analysis; radiotherapy; proton therapy; hip prosthesis; dental implants;

    Abstract : Degradation of image quality by metal artifacts is a common problem in computed tomography (CT) imaging, which can limit the diagnostic value of a CT examination and also introduce inaccuracies in radiotherapy (RT) treatment planning. In recent years, commercial metal artifact reduction (MAR) methods have been launched by several CT vendors. READ MORE
