6. Association Phenomena Involving Hydrophobically Modified Polymers. Electrostatic and Hydrophobic Contributions
Abstract : The electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions in aqueous solutions of hydrophobically-modified water-soluble non-ionic or ionic polymers, their mixtures with a second polymer, nonionic or of opposite charge, and their mixtures with surfactants of opposite charge have been investigated. The relative strength of the electrostatic and hydrophobic contributions has been modulated by a variation of the polymer charge density and the solution pH, and by a variation in the degree and strength of the hydrophobic modifications, respectively. 7. Global functional association network inference and crosstalk analysis for pathway annotation
Abstract : Cell functions are steered by complex interactions of gene products, like forming a temporary or stable complex, altering gene expression or catalyzing a reaction. Mapping these interactions is the key in understanding biological processes and therefore is the focus of numerous experiments and studies. READ MORE

8. Genetic linkage and association studies in celiac disease: discoveries from whole genome analysis
Abstract : Celiac Disease (CD) or Gluten Sensitive Enteropathy (GSE) is a life-long disorder. It is characterized by inflammation in the small intestine of genetically predisposed individuals caused by inappropriate immune response to gluten, a protein enriched in some of our common grains (wheat, rye and barley). 9. Genetic variation and prostate cancer : population-based association studies in Sweden
Abstract : Prostate cancer constitutes the most common malignancy and the most common cause of cancer‐related death in Swedish men. A large body of evidence suggests that inherited genetic variants contribute to both development and progression of prostate cancer. READ MORE

10. Managing the brand-association base : exploring facets of strategic brand management from the imaginary organization perspective : based on a semiotic study on the ASSESS CD-ROM by American Skandia
Abstract : The aim of the present thesis is twofold. The first goal is to contribute to the understanding of collaborative facets of Strategic Brand Management of a brand identity in relation to the partner base from the perspective of a coordinating leader brand in the imaginary organization.
