  1. 1. Chemodynamics in Star-Forming Molecular Clouds

    Author : Chia-Jung Hsu; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stars: formation; hydrodynamics; methods: numerical; ISM: clouds; astrochemistry;

    Abstract : Stars are fundamental building blocks of galaxies. However, the answers to many basic questions about their formation remain elusive. There is no consensus on a theory that can predict the rate of star formation, its clustering properties, and the conditions needed for massive stars to be born. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ultrafast dynamics of small quantum systems studied using electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy

    Author : Smita Ganguly; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coincidence spectroscopy; photodissociation dynamics; fragmentation reaction; MOLECULAR-BEAM; Cluster fission; Astrochemistry; Carbon dioxide CO2 ; ; Adamantane;

    Abstract : Studying how small quantum systems, like molecules and clusters, interact with X-rays is crucial to understanding the ultrafast processes that occur in nature on incredibly short timescales, ranging from femtoseconds to picoseconds. X-rays excite small quantum systems to unstable core hole states, leading to a cascade of phenomena, including Auger decay, nuclear rearrangement, and dissociation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Observations of molecules in luminous infrared galaxies

    Author : Francesco Costagliola; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Interstellar medium; Galaxies; Radio astronomy; Astrochemistry;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  4. 4. Synthesis of complex organics via molecular growth mechanisms : Combined experimental and theoretical studies on ion-neutral reactions of C2H2N+ with ubiquitous hydrocarbons in Titan's ionosphere

    Author : Pantea Fathi; Wolf Geppert; Paul Scheier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Astrochemistry; Complex molecules; Ion-neutral reactions; Mass spectrometry; Planetary and satellite atmospheres; Titan; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : To provide insights on the molecular growth mechanisms leading to large carbon and nitrogen-bearing species in Titan’s ionosphere, laboratory measurements of ion-neutral reactions were conducted and the results are presented in the following doctoral dissertation. The product ions of the C2H2N+ reactions with saturated and unsaturated neutral hydrocarbons have been investigated using Guided Ion Beam Mass Spectrometer (GIB-MS). READ MORE

  5. 5. Dissociative Recombination of Astrochemically Interesting Ions

    Author : Mathias Hamberg; Wolf Geppert; Mats Larsson; Stephan Schlemmer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dissociative Recombination; Astrochemistry; Chemical physics; Kemisk fysik; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : In this thesis the major work described concerns experimental determination of the dissociative recombination (DR) reaction for several molecular ions of astrochemical interest. DR is the process where an electron recombines with a molecular ion to form an excited neutral that disintegrates into two or more neutral fragments to release the gained excess energy. READ MORE
