1. Novel Pincer Complex-Catalyzed Transformations : Including Asymmetric Catalysis
Abstract : This thesis is focused on the development of new pincer complex-catalyzed transformations. Optimization of the catalytic properties (fine-tuning) was directed to increase the catalytic activity as well as the chemo-, stereo- and enantioselectivity of the complexes. READ MORE

3. On the Ring-Opening Reaction of Thiophene-1,1-dioxides and the Intramolecular Diels-Alder Reaction of Azanona- and AzadecatrienesI
Abstract : Substituted thiophene-1,1-dioxides were synthesized and their ring-opening reactions with omega-unsaturated secondary amines were investigated; this led to a synthetic route to azatrienes and to the preparation of some polyhydroisoindoles and polyhydroisoquinolines via an intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction. By using 2-substituted pyrrolidines and piperidines various tetrahydrobenzo[f]indolizidines, benzo[b]quinolizidines, tetrahydrobenzo[a]indolizidines and tetrahydro[a]pyrrolizidines could be synthesized via the ring-opening of 3-bromo-2,5-dimmethylthiophene-1,1-dioxide and a subsequent intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction. 4. Absolute Asymmetric Synthesis
Abstract : Absolute asymmetric synthesis is the synthesis of optically active products from achiral or racemic precursors only. This has generally been regarded as impossible and is relevant in the discussion of the origins of biomolecular homochirality. READ MORE

5. Market power in the Swedish banking oligopoly : a game-theoretic model of competition applied to the five big Swedish banks 1989-97
Abstract : This thesis aims at assessing the degree of competition among the five dominating Swedish banks during the period 1989-1997. In so doing, it also aims to develop a general oligopoly model with the specific purpose of providing a tool for an improved methodology for the evaluation of market power in oligopolistic markets, and to demonstrate the empirical application of this methodology.
