1. On the Design and Validation of Fault Containment Regions in Distributed Communication Systems
Abstract : This thesis has a two fold focus where the first is an evaluation of a time-triggered communication protocol implementation, TTP-C1, which was stressed by use of heavy-ion fault injection. The gathered result showed a novel type of failures, earlier known only from theory, so-called slightly-out-of-specification faults, that manifested as Byzantine failures with resulting system inconsistence. 2. Structural and sedimentological reconstruction of the inverted Vargfors basin : a base for 4D-modelling
Abstract : The Palaeoproterozoic Skellefte mining district in northern Sweden covers an area of 120 by 30 km and is one of the most important mining districts in Europe, producing mainly Zn, Cu, Pb, As and Au from volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) and orogenic gold deposits.Detailed mapping of structures and stratigraphy within the sedimentary Vargfors Group combined with a structural analysis revealed a syn-extensional fault pattern of NW-SE-trending normal faults and associated NE-SW-trending transfer faults, creating the segmented sedimentary Vargfors basin. 3. Modeling of Wind Turbines for Power System Studies
Abstract : The power quality impact of wind turbines on the electric grid and the response of the wind turbines to faults in the electric grid are investigated in this thesis. A detailed model of a stall-regulated, fixed-speed wind turbine system capable of predicting the flicker impact on the connected grid is presented and compared with field measurements. READ MORE

4. On the Design and Analysis of Consensus Protocols for Automotive Electronic Systems
Abstract : This thesis deals with the fundamental problem of reaching agreement on a value in a distributedcomputing system in the presence of faults. We address this problem in the contextof safety-critical distributed automotive applications, such as virtual traffic lights. READ MORE

5. Geological development of the East African coastal basin of Tanzania
Abstract : The East African coastal basin of Tanzania, which is characterised by an extensional tectonic style, is located along the passive continental margin of the western Indian Ocean. The present study is concerned with the Mafia Island and the Mafia Channel which together form a subbasin within the north-south elongated coastal sedimentary basin of Tanzania. READ MORE
