  1. 1. Dispersion modelling of volcanic emissions

    Author : Adam Dingwell; Rutgersson Anna; David Simpson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dispersion modelling; atmospheric; volcano; gas emissions; volcanic ash; FLEXPART; FLEXPART-WRF; Spridningsmodellering; atmosfär; vulkan; gasutsläpp; vulkanaska; FLEXPART; FLEXPART-WRF; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Abstract : Gases and particles released by volcanoes pose a serious hazard to humans and society. Emissions can be transported over long distances before being reduced to harmless concentrations. Knowing which areas are, or will be, exposed to volcanic emissions is an important part inreducing the impact on human health and society. READ MORE

  2. 2. Quality Aspects of Modified Atmosphere Packaged Broccoli

    Author : Annelie Jacobsson; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Livsmedelsteknik; Food and drink technology; heat transfer; mass transport; quality; flavour; aroma; modified atmosphere packaging; broccoli;

    Abstract : The modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) of vegetables is used with the aim of prolonging the shelf-life of the packaged produce. The packaging material consists of a permeable film and as a result of the respiration of the produce and gas diffusion through the film, the O2 decreases and the CO2 increases inside the package. 3. 3. Satistical Modelling Of CO2 Exchange Between Land And Atmosphere : Using Stochastic Optimisation And Gaussian Markov Random Fields

    Author : Unn Dahlén; Spatio-Temporal Stochastic Modelling Group; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gaussiska Markovfält; Stokastisk optimering; CO2-flöden; Spatial statistik; Stochastic Optimisation; Gaussian Markov Random Fields; Atmospheric inverse modelling; Spatial statistics; Computational statistics;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the development and application of efficient mathematicaltools for estimating and modelling the exchange of carbon dioxide (CO2) between the Earth and its atmosphere; here referred to as the global CO2 surface flux.There are two main approaches for estimating the CO2 flux: Processed based(bottom-up) modelling and atmospheric inversion (top-down) modelling. 4. 4. Land-atmosphere exchange of carbon in a high-Arctic wet tundra ecosystem

    Author : Torbern Tagesson; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbon; methane; carbon dioxide; climate change; Arctic; NDVI; NDWI; micrometeorology; remote sensing; chamber; tundra;

    Abstract : Arctic ecosystems play a key role in the terrestrial carbon (C) cycle, but spa-tially explicit data on the C exchange is scarce in these remote areas. The global warming is especially dominant in the Arctic, and these areas are vul-nerable to climate change. READ MORE

    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atomstruktur; atomära processer; elektronkorrelation; plasmaspektroskopi; magnetfält; hyperfinstruktur; solkoronan; rymdväder; förekomst av grundämnen i stjärnor; datorsimuleringar; Zeemaneffekt; relativistiska effekter; atomic structure; atomic processes; computer simulation; electron correlation; relativistic atomic theory; plasma spectroscopy; Zeeman effect; magnetic fields; hyperfine structure; solar corona; space weather; stellar abundances; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Grumer;

    Abstract : Motivated by spectroscopic analysis of astrophysical and laboratory plasma, this thesis concerns the fundamental structure and spectral properties of atoms and their ions. The multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock (MCDHF) method is used to predict the emission or absorption of radiation, by atomic systems in general, and of heavy and highly charged ions in particular.
