  1. 16. Development of Cermet Microstructures during Sintering and Heat-Treatment

    Author : Jenni Zachrisson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; APFIM; EELS; cemented carbides; quantitative microanalysis; gradients; N ; TEM; EFTEM; hardmetals; EDX; Ti C; light elements;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is concerned with the microstructure of Ti(C, N) based cermet materials used in cutting tool applications. Several techniques have been used to study the microstructure of cermets, in particular transmission electron micro-scopy in combi-na-tion with energy dispersive X-ray analysis and electron energy-loss spectroscopy, energy-filtered transmission electron micro-scopy, atom-probe field-ion microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. 2. 17. Evolution of Microstructure in Two Austenitic Alloys at High Temperatures

    Author : Jenny M Erneman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; N ; Thermo-Calc; Nb C; gamma prime; DICTRA; APFIM; quantitative metallography; AISI 347; Alloy 800; energy filtered TEM; sigma phase;

    Abstract : A niobium stabilised AISI 347 austenitic stainless steel was investigated after static ageing and creep deformation at temperatures between 500°C and 800°C for times up to 88 000 h. Coarse and fine NbX precipitates and also s-phase precipitates were formed in the temperature range 500-700°C. READ MORE

  3. 18. Mechanisms of Plastic Deformation of Cemented Carbide and Cermet Cutting Tools

    Author : Gustaf Östberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SEM; cermets; TEM; plastic deformation; ab initio calculations; EFTEM; APFIM; FIB; cemented carbides; EBSD;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the physical mechanisms acting during plastic deformation of hardmetals used in metal cutting applications have been investigated. Microstructural and microanalytical studies have been performed on cemented carbides as well as cermet materials. READ MORE

  4. 19. Microstructural Development of Nanocrystalline Ni- and Co-Based Materilas upon Annealing

    Author : Melina da Silva; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ni; grain growth; nanocrystalline materials; Co-P; Ni-Fe; thermal stability; TEM in-situ annealing;

    Abstract : Nanocrystalline materials are a relatively new group of materials that are constituted by crystals/grains of a few nanometers in size. Because their mechanical, physical and chemical properties are often superior compared to their microcrystalline counterparts, these materials are attractive for many industrial applications. 5. 20. Activated Recrystallization of Non-Sag Tungsten Wire

    Author : Zonghe Lai; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The objective of the present investigation was to explore the mechanism of activated recrystallization of heavily drawn doped (non-sag) tungsten wire material. The recrystallization can be induced at low temperatures by the presence of some metals, such as palladium, nickel, iron and others, on the wire surface, which is important as it can seriously deteriorate the mechanical properties of non-sag tungsten wires, when the wires serve as reinforcement material in metal matrix composites.
