  1. 1. Molecular Electronics : Insight from Ab-Initio Transport Simulations

    Author : Jariyanee Prasongkit; Rajeev Ahuja; Magnus Paulsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular Electronics; Ab Initio; DNA Sequencing; Nanoscience; Graphene; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the theoretical studies of electronic transport in molecular electronic devices. Such devices have been proposed and investigated as a promising new approach that complements conventional silicon-based electronics. READ MORE

  2. 2. Solving the quantum scattering problem for systems of two and three charged particles

    Author : Mikhail Volkov; Nils Elander; William McCurdy; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Scattering theory; three body scattering; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylfysik; Mathematical physics; Matematisk fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : A rigorous formalism for solving the Coulomb scattering problem is presented in this thesis. The approach is based on splitting the interaction potential into a finite-range part and a long-range tail part. In this representation the scattering problem can be reformulated to one which is suitable for applying exterior complex scaling. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quantum transport and geometric integration for molecular systems

    Author : Anders Odell; Anna Delin; Anders Niklasson; Michael Springborg; KTH; []

    Abstract : Molecular electronics is envisioned as a possible next step in device miniaturization. It is usually taken to mean the design and manufacturing of electronic devices and applications where organic molecules work as the fundamental functioning unit. READ MORE

  4. 4. Weak Atomic Interactions

    Author : Peter Schef; Sven Mannervik; Juliet C. Pickering; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metastable states; forbidden transitions; laser probing; hyperfine structure; LRDR; Atomic physics; Atomfysik;

    Abstract : An atom or ion can change quantum state, usually through emission or absorption of a photon. The photon has the same energy as the energy difference between the states of the transition. The states, or energy levels, of an atom are quantized and light emitted, or absorbed, from the atom is therefore of specific wavelengths, giving spectral lines. READ MORE

    Abstract : Motivated by spectroscopic analysis of astrophysical and laboratory plasma, this thesis concerns the fundamental structure and spectral properties of atoms and their ions. The multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock (MCDHF) method is used to predict the emission or absorption of radiation, by atomic systems in general, and of heavy and highly charged ions in particular.
