21. Electron - Ion Recombination Data for Plasma Applications : Results from Electron Beam Ion Trap and Ion Storage Ring
Abstract : This thesis contains results of electron-ion recombination processes in atomic ions relevant for plasma applications. The measurements were performed at the Stockholm Refrigerated Electron Beam Ion Trap (R-EBIT) and at the CRYRING heavy-ion storage ring. READ MORE

22. SMILETRAP I / II : Precision Improvements in Penning-Trap Mass-Spectrometry
Abstract : This thesis describes the final precision mass measurements with SMILETRAP I, where a relative precision of < 1 ppb (10-9) was reached routinely, and the development of SMILETRAP II, aiming for measurements with < 0.1 ppb relative precision. READ MORE

23. Guiding of highly charged ions through insulating nanocapillaries
Abstract : This thesis contains experimental work on guiding of highly charged ions through insulating nanocapillaries. We have studied the time evolution of angular distributions of transmitted ions under well defined initial conditions: already charged, as well as fully discharged nanocapillaries, by using a two-dimensional position sensitive Micro Channel Plate detector with a data acquisition system working in event mode. 24. Multiscale modeling of atomic transport phenomena in ferritic steels
Abstract : Defect-driven transport of impurities plays a key role in the microstructure evolution of alloys, and has a great impact on the mechanical properties at the macroscopic scale. This phenomenon is greatly enhanced in irradiated materials because of the large amount of radiation-induced crystal defects (vacancies and interstitials). READ MORE

25. Atomic Scale Design of Clean Energy Materials : Efficient Solar Energy Conversion and Gas Sensing
Abstract : The focus of this doctoral thesis is the atomic level design of photocatalysts and gas sensing materials. The band gap narrowing in the metal oxides for the visible-light driven photocatalyst as well as the interaction of water and gas molecules on the reactive surfaces of metal oxides and the electronic structure of kaolinite has been studied by the state-of-art calculations.
