  1. 1. Model-based Analysis of Temporal Patterns in Atrioventricular Node Conduction During Atrial Fibrillation

    Author : Mattias Karlsson; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Atrial fibrillation AF ; Atrioventricular node; Mathematical modeling; Genetic algorithm GA ;

    Abstract : The lifetime risk of developing atrial fibrillation (AF) is estimated to be between 1in 3 to 1 in 4 individuals, making it the most common arrhythmia in the world.For persistent AF, rate control drugs with the purpose to affect the conduction properties of the atrioventricular (AV) node are the most common treatment. 2. 2. Atrioventricular synchronous pacing in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy

    Author : Fredrik Gadler; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : HOCM; pacing; LVOTobstruction; quality of life;

    Abstract : The study addresses major issues of cardiac pacing in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). The influence of ventricular pacing site and atrioventricular (AV)-delay on left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) gradient. READ MORE

  3. 3. ATRIOVENTRICULAR CONDUCTION in Patients with Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardias

    Author : Shaowen Liu; Kardiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns retrospective and prospective studies of the atrioventricular (AV) conduction properties in patients with cardiac arrhythmias. The objectives of the retrospective studies were to further delineate the sex distribution in patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW) and AV nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) and to determine the underlying mechanisms of the differences in sex distribution, to investigate the relationship between the conduction properties of normal and accessory AV pathway, and to evaluate their conduction properties with respect to accessory pathway location. 4. 4. Cardiac involvement in familial amyloidosis with polyneuropathy

    Author : Peter Eriksson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; amyloidosis; arrhythmias; cardiac pacing; cardiac radionuclide; imaging; echocardiography; electrocardiography; pathology;

    Abstract : Familial amyloidosis with polyneuropathy (FAP) is a neuropathic form of heredofamilial systemic amyloidosis. Clusters of patients have been reported predominantly from Portugal, Japan and Sweden. The present study examines the involvement of the heart in individuals with the Swedish variety of FAP. 5. 5. Exploration of Supraventricular Conduction with respect to Atrial Fibrillation. Methodological Aspects on Selected Techniques

    Author : Jonas Carlson; Kardiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Signal processing; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Correlation Function Analysis; Transformation; Modeling; P wave Morphology; Signal; Conduction; Human; Atrial Fibrillation; Signalbehandling; Electrocardiography;

    Abstract : Atrial fibrillation is the most common cardiac arrhythmia that demands medical attention. Computer-based detailed analysis of cardiac electrical signals from healthy subjects and patients with a history of atrial fibrillation has become an important tool in the further clarification of this disease.
