  1. 11. Semiochemical-mediated attraction and oviposition in pyralid moths

    Author : Christian Olsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ekologi; Lepidoptera; behaviour; pest control; Ecology; learning; olfaction;

    Abstract : Moths use chemical signals emanating from food to find sites for oviposition and subsequent larval feeding. By identifying these odours, novel approaches to pest management can be developed, such as monitoring of females in pest populations. READ MORE

  2. 12. Addressing equality and diversity in the workplace through recruitment materials : an equality monitoring approach

    Author : Amanda J. Heath; Jens Agerström; Magnus Carlsson; Ishbel McWha-Hermann; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; equality monitoring; equality diversity inclusion; job advertisements; organizational attraction; ethnicity; recruitment; diversity management; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) statements have been used as part of diversity management in human resources for some time and research suggests they are generally perceived positively and can increase organizational attraction in underrepresented groups, thus promoting diversity and inclusion. The main aim of this doctoral dissertation is to examine the effects of a particular diversity management practice called equality monitoring (EM) and investigate public perceptions of EM and effects on behaviour such as applications, intentions to pursue a job and organizational attraction. 3. 13. Interactions between non-polar surfaces in water: Fokus on talc, pitch and surface roughness effects

    Author : Viveca Wallqvist; Per Claesson; Janne Laine; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Talc; surface forces; capillary attraction; hydrophobic interaction; pitch control; wetting agent; dispersing agent; adsorption; imbibition; absorption; permeation; atomic force microscopy; colloidal probe; Hamaker constant; surface roughness; nanostructure.; Talk; kapillärattraktion; ytkrafter; hydrofob växelverkan; hartskontroll; vätningsmedel; dispergeringsmedel; adsorption; uppsugning; absorption; permeabilitet; atomkraftsmikroskopi; kolloidal partikel; Hamakerkonstant; ytråhet; nanostrukturerad yta.; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis work was to gain understanding of the interactions between talc mineral and surfaces, liquids and chemicals relevant for industrial applications, such as pulp and paper. Talc is used in the pulp and paper industry as a filler pigment, in control of pitch (lipophilic extractives) deposits and as a coating pigment. READ MORE

  4. 14. Polymer Mediated Surface Forces

    Author : Martin Turesson; Beräkningskemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polyelectrolyte Solutions; Charge Inversion; Monte Carlo Simulations; Depletion Stabilization; Correlation Attraction; Colloid stability;

    Abstract : The issue of controlling the stability between colloidal particles in solution is important, at least for industrial applications, relying on efficient flocculation or stable dispersions. The objective of this thesis is to shed some light on fundamental mechanisms behind the interplay between attractive and repulsive forces, in solutions containing colloids and polymers. READ MORE

  5. 15. Predicting who stays or leaves after the acquisition: : Target’s top manager turnover

    Author : Keivan Aghasi; Terrence Brown; Massimo Colombo; Maureen McKelvey; KTH; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Acquisition; CEO turnover; TMT turnover; coordination; Founder-CEO; Similarity attraction; Diversity;

    Abstract : In acquisition of high-tech and knowledge intensive firms, scholars have paid special attention to top managers’ status after the deal. Literature suggests that these managers in particular CEOs if kept in post-acquisition provide coordination capacity for the acquirer to transfer the knowledge and technology from the target to the acquirer while minimizing the disruptive effect of post-acquisition integration process.
