  1. 1. Thermal and mechanical behaviour of railway wheel steel

    Author : Johan Ahlström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; phase transformations; plastic deformation; sliding contact; heat conduction modelling; low cycle fatigue; railway wheel steel Fe-0.5C-0.3Si-0.75Mn-0.05V ; austenitisation; transformation kinetics; heat treatment; friction;

    Abstract : The wish to increase loads and speeds of trains puts higher demand on construc¬tion, engineering and material than ever before. Therefore it is necessary to con¬tinuously develop technology to meet these increasing requirements. READ MORE

  2. 2. On the relationship between microstructure, process parameters and mechanical properties of boron steels

    Author : Erik Lundholm; Jörgen Kajberg; Andreas Lundbäck; Paul Åkerström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : The continuous development of the press hardening technology has led to stronger, lighter and more environmentally friendly components. Utilising the varying properties of boron steel at different temperatures enables great design freedom, while also attaining high strength in the final component. READ MORE

  3. 3. Microstructure and mechanical properties of a 5 wt.% Cr cold work tool steel : Influence of heat treatment procedure

    Author : Arbab Rehan; Lars-Erik Svensson; Leif Karlsson; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cold work tool steel; Heat treatment; Microstructural characterisation; Mechanical properties; Retained austenite; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : The demand for Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) in the automotive industry is increasing day by day. It is mainly motivated by the fact that AHSS can be used as thin sheets while having high strengths. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effect of heat treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of a 5 wt.% Cr cold work tool steel

    Author : Arbab Rehan; Lars-Erik Svensson; Leif Karlsson; Anna Medvedeva; Per Erik Skogholm; Berne Högman; Reinhold Schneider; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cold work tool steel; Hardening; Tempering; Microstructural characterisation; Retained austenite; Martensite; Bainite; Hardness; Impact toughness; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : This work presents investigations related to phase transformations occurring inthe 5 wt.% Cr cold work tool steel Caldie during hardening and tempering treatments. READ MORE

  5. 5. Microstructural manipulation by laser irradiation of prepared samples : The ’Snapshot Method’

    Author : Stephanie Robertson; Alexander F.H. Kaplan; Fredrik Sikström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Produktionsutveckling; Manufacturing Systems Engineering;

    Abstract : Various metallurgical microstructures and their formation are studied in this thesis by using a laser beam to melt a variety of materials with different chemical compositions over a range of thermal cycles. The laser beam was used conventionally in a narrow gap multi-layer weld, used for welding large depths with filler wire additions, as well as a non-traditional simulated welding approach labelled here as the Snapshot method.
