  1. 1. Diabetes mellitus in Adults - Aspects of Incidence, Autoimmunity and C-peptide

    Author : Maria Thunander; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; type 2 diabetes; incidence; epidemiology; c-peptide; classification; antibodies; LADA; insulin; definition; autoimmune diseases; rheumatic antibodies; gastric antibodies; complications;

    Abstract : Type 1 and type 2 diabetes increase worldwide, leading to a heavy burden of disease and its complications. All 1666 adults aged 18-100 years with new onset diabetes in Kronoberg during 3 years were registered, and type of diabetes classified by pancreatic autoantibodies and C-peptide. READ MORE

  2. 2. Skin fibrosis, internal organ involvement and auto antibodies in systemic sclerosis: longitudinal development and impact on survival

    Author : Roger Hesselstrand; Reumatologi och molekylär skelettbiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi; Skeleton; proteoglycan; pulmonary hypertension; organ involvement; auto antibodies; survival; systemic sclerosis; prognosis;

    Abstract : Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a connective tissue disease with a highly variable prognosis. Since new treatment strategies are emerging, there is a need for prognostic markers in order to help allocate patients to the optimal treatment. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Role of Fc gamma Receptors and Mast Cell Chymase in Autoimmune Arthritis

    Author : Sofia Magnusson; Sandra Kleinau; Jeanette Leusen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fc gamma receptors; rheumatoid arthritis; antibodies; mast cells; mast cell; Immunology; Immunologi; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : In autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), self-reactive antibodies are present at high levels, which contributes to disease pathogenesis. The antibodies mediate their effect predominantly by binding to Fc gamma receptors (FcγR) on various leukocytes, such as monocytes, macrophages and mast cells, where FcγR ligation leads to cell activation. 4. 4. Vaccine responses after chemotherapy or stem cell transplantation in patients with hematological malignancies

    Author : Sigrun Einarsdottir; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; vaccination; chemotherapy; stem cell transplantation; antibodies; tetanus; diphtheria; polio; Tick-borne encephalitis TBE ; SARS-CoV-2;

    Abstract : The prevention of infections in patients with hematological malignancies is important given the inherent immune deficiency associated with these diseases and the immunosuppressive effects of treatment. This thesis investigated the efficacy of vaccines against various pathogens among patients with hematological disease receiving chemotherapy or stem cell transplantation, including the longevity of vaccine responses. 5. 5. Preclinical Molecular Imaging using Multi-Isotope Digital Autoradiography - Techniques and Applications

    Author : Anders Örbom; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Autoradiography; Radioimmunotherapy; Antibodies; Molecular Imaging; Multi-Radionuclide Imaging; Silicon-strip detector;

    Abstract : Molecular imaging, both in vivo and ex vivo, is playing an increasingly important role in preclinical medical research. When using radionuclide-labeled tracers, e.g. in the development of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging or for radionuclide therapy, quantitative in vivo imaging can be performed using emission tomography.
