  1. 11. Organ-specific autoantibodies in Addison's disease and autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type I

    Author : Annika Söderbergh; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; Addison s disease; APS I; Down syndrome; AIRE; autoantibodies; autoantigens; autoimmunity; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Abstract : Assessment of autoantibodies is a valuable tool in the diagnostic procedure of autoimmune diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of different autoantibodies and their associations with disease manifestations in patients with Addison's disease and autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type I (APS I). 2. 12. C-reactive protein (CRP) and anti-CRP autoantibodies in systemic lupus erythematosus : a study on the occurrence and clinical implications of anti-CRP antibodies and CRP-mediated complement activation

    Author : Christopher Sjöwall; Thomas Skogh; Johan Frostegård; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; autoantibodies; complement activation; C-reactive protein; cytokines; immune complex; immunoregulation; opsonization; systemic lupus erythematosus; Rheumatology; Reumatologi;

    Abstract : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by production of a wide range of autoantibodies, multiple organ involvement and by local formation or tissue deposition of immune complexes (ICs) in the inflamed organs. In contrast to most systemic inflammatory conditions, and despite raised levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, SLE flares are rarely reflected by elevated C-reactive protein (CRP), an important acute-phase reactant in man with homologs in vertebrates and several invertebrates. Abstract : Background. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune inflammatory disease that, without powerful treatment, may lead to irreversible joint damage. During the past decade, anti-cytokine therapy has become available, e.g. READ MORE

  4. 14. Pituitary autoantibodies in endocrine disorders

    Author : Sophie Bensing; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Lymphocytic hypophysitis; hypopituitarism; empty sella syndrome; APS 1; autoantibodies; autoantigen; Secretogranin II; TDRD6.;

    Abstract : Autoimmune endocrine disorders are characterised by the development of autoantibodies to specific autoantigens in the target organs. Lymphocytic hypophysitis (LyH) is a disease characterised by inflammation of the pituitary gland, often resulting in hypopituitarism. The aetiology of LyH is considered to be autoimmune. READ MORE

  5. 15. Autoantibody profiling in autoimmune diseases

    Author : Shaghayegh Bayati; Peter Nilsson; Elisa Pin; Peter Heeringa; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Autoimmunity; Autoantibodies; Vasculitis; Systemic Sclerosis; affinity proteomics; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Abstract : Autoimmune disease diagnosis and definition of prognosis can be challenging. Patients with the same autoimmune disease could present with very heterogeneous symptoms. Therefore, there is a need to understand the disease better to improve patients’ diagnosis, and classification, and tailor the treatment. READ MORE
