  1. 6. Language Engineering in Grammatical Framework (GF)

    Author : Janna Khegai; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multilingual authoring; machine translation; natural language processing; syntax editing;

    Abstract : This thesis describes a number of practical experiments rather than theoreticalinvestigations in the area of natural language processing. The basis forthe work presented is Grammatical Framework (GF). It is a very complexsystem, which comprises among other things a grammar formalism based ontype theory and its implementation written in Haskell. READ MORE

  2. 7. Large-Scale Multi-Source Satellite Data for Wildfire Detection and Assessment Using Deep Learning

    Author : Xikun Hu; Yifang Ban; Martin Wooster; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wildfire; Remote Sensing; Active Fire Detection; Burned Area Mapping; Burn Severity Assessment; Sentinel-2; Landsat; Sentinel-1; Deep Learning; Semantic Segmentation; Image Translation; Skogsbrand; fjärranalys; aktiv branddetektering; kartläggning av bränt område; bedömning av brännskador; Sentinel-2; Landsat; Sentinel-1; djupinlärning; semantisk segmentering; bildöversättning.; Geoinformatik; Geoinformatics;

    Abstract : Earth Observation (EO) satellites have great potential in wildfire detection and assessment at fine spatial, temporal, and spectral resolutions. For a long time, satellite data have been employed to systematically monitor wildfire dynamics and assess wildfire impacts, including (i) to detect the location of actively burning spots, (ii) to map the spatial extent of the burn scars, (iii) to assess the wildfire damage levels. 3. 8. Sar Remote Sensing of Sea Ice: Towards automatic extraction of geophysical information

    Author : Yan Sun; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; classification; deformation; SAR; segmentation; cross-correlation; rotation; optical flow; motion detection;

    Abstract : Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images from the ERS-1 satellite have great potential for sea ice remote sensing due to its independence of daylight and clouds. The very high data rate of SAR (over 100 million bits per second) results in an enormous volume of data that threatens the ability of human interpreters. READ MORE

  4. 9. Towards Digitization and Machine learning Automation for Cyber-Physical System of Systems

    Author : Saleha Javed; Marcus Liwicki; Fredrik Sandin; Hamam Mokayed; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Digitization; Automation; Industry 4.0; Machine-to-Machine Translation; Ontology Alignment Eclipse Arrowhead Framework; Machine Learning; Unsupervised Learning; Condition Monitoring; Ontology Alignment; Cyber-Physical Systems; Cyberfysiska system;

    Abstract : Cyber-physical systems (CPS) connect the physical and digital domains and are often realized as spatially distributed. CPS is built on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Internet of Services, which use cloud architecture to link a swarm of devices over a decentralized network. Modern CPSs are undergoing a foundational shift as Industry 4. READ MORE

  5. 10. Spelling Normalisation and Linguistic Analysis of Historical Text for Information Extraction

    Author : Eva Pettersson; Joakim Nivre; Beáta Megyesi; Michael Piotrowski; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NLP for historical text; spelling normalisation; digital humanities; information extraction; character-based statistical machine translation; SMT; Levenshtein edit distance; language technology; computational linguistics; Computational Linguistics; Datorlingvistik;

    Abstract : Historical text constitutes a rich source of information for historians and other researchers in humanities. Many texts are however not available in an electronic format, and even if they are, there is a lack of NLP tools designed to handle historical text. READ MORE
