  1. 1. Modeling and simulation of rotary bell spray atomizers in automotive paint shops

    Author : Björn O Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; spray painting; computational fluid dynamics; atomization; multiphase flow; breakup; coating; surface tension;

    Abstract : The paint and surface treatment processes in automotive paint shops are characterized by multiphase and free surface flows, multiphysics interactions, multiscale phenomena, and large moving geometries. The current version of the software for simulation of spray painting developed at the Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centre relies on measurements of droplet size distributions and velocity profiles below the applicator that can be used as input to the simulations. 2. 2. Large-Scale Graphene Production for Environmentally Friendly and Low-Cost Energy Storage : Production, Coating, and Applications

    Author : Nicklas Blomquist; Håkan Olin; Renyun Zhang; Christina Dahlström; Patrik Johansson; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Graphene; Energy storage; Supercapacitors; EDLC;

    Abstract : There is great demand for energy-efficient, environmentally sustainable, and cost-effective electrical energy storage devices. One important aspect of this demand is the need for automotive electrification to achieve more energy-efficient transportation at a reasonable cost, thus supporting a fossil-fuel free society. Abstract : Threaded fasteners represent the most common type of machine element, with a unique function that facilitates ease of assembly and disassembly. This ease of disassembly allows machine parts to be reused, refurbished, and recycled. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wear resistant low friction coatings for engine components

    Author : Per Lindholm; Sören Andersson; Rickard Larker; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering materials; cam; roller follower; carbon coating; engine test; finite element method; Konstruktionsmaterial; Construction materials; Konstruktionsmaterial;

    Abstract : Engine development today is driven by cost, performance and government regulations. Customers want cars and trucks to consume less fuel, last longer, pollute less and be safer. Several of the requirements have tribological associations. For example, product longevity can be improved by lowering friction and using more wear-resistant components. READ MORE

  5. 5. Tribology of Carbon Based Coatings for Machine Element Applications

    Author : Fredrik Svahn; Åsa Kassman-Rudolphi; Sture Hogmark; Mats Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Demands on lower fuel consumption, reduced pollution, increased operating times, etc. force the automotive industry to constantly improve the performance of critical machine elements. In this development various carbon based coatings have proven very promising, mainly because of their low friction and high wear resistance in dry sliding contacts. READ MORE
