    Abstract : In the last several years, the focus of traffic safety research—especially when performed in association with the automotive industry—has shifted from preventing injury during a crash to avoiding the crash altogether or mitigating its effects. Pre-crash safety measures include intelligent safety systems (e.g. READ MORE

    Abstract : Full deployment of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) on public roads is challenging for organizations in the automotive domain in terms of developing safety standards and methods while taking legacy assumptions related to having a human driver and increased complexity and complexity handling into account. Specifically, the safety of AVs in the presence of other road users must be guaranteed as far as possible for different traffic scenarios. READ MORE

  3. 3. Physically based constitutive models for crash of composites

    Author : Sergio Costa; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Crushing; FEA; friction; damage mechanics; CDM; kinking;

    Abstract : The transportation industry and passenger cars in particular are strong emitters of gases that contribute to the climate crisis. For this reason, the automotive industry investigates opportunities to reduce emissions, such as reducing the weight of the car. READ MORE

  4. 4. Predicting Safety Benefits of Automated Emergency Braking at Intersections - Virtual simulations based on real-world accident data

    Author : Ulrich Sander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; injury mitigation; market penetration; accident avoidance; junction; V2X; straight crossing path; AEB; Intersection; left turn across path;

    Abstract : Introduction: Intersections are a global traffic safety concern. In the United States, around half of all fatal road traffic accidents take place at intersections or were related to them. In the European Union, about one fifth of road traffic fatalities occur at intersections. READ MORE

  5. 5. Methods for efficient modelling of progressive failure in laminated fibre-reinforced composites

    Author : Johannes Främby; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Composites; Progressive failure; Crash simulation; Adaptive modelling;

    Abstract : To meet increasing demands on reduced CO2 emissions, the automotive industry is currently very active in research to reduce vehicle weight by incorporating laminated composites (primarily carbon fibre-reinforced polymers) into structural components. Historically, composite materials have mainly been used in the aerospace industry, whereby CAE-based design and development tools for composite structures have been developed primarily to the specific needs and requirements in this industry.
