1. Autonomic function and myocardial repolarisation. Studies in renal diseases and in spinal cord injury
Abstract : Both experimental and clinical evidence indicates that cardiac parasympathetic markers such as baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) and heart rate variability (HRV) have significant prognostic value. Furthermore, increased myocardial repolarisation lability reflected by increased QT variability index (QTVI) has been identified as a predictor for sudden cardiac death. READ MORE

2. Urodynamic evaluation of detrusor pressure and blood pressure reaction in patients with a reflux urinary bladder after spinal cord injury
Abstract : This thesis is focused on urodynamic evaluation of variables that are associated with the risk of upper urinary tract dysfunction and autonomic dysreflexia in patients with a reflex urinary bladder after spinal cord injury. The detrusor pressure was measured with suprapubic catheters during 24 or 12 hours of physiological filling (diuresis) and during consecutive cystometries. READ MORE

3. The Stockholm spinal cord uro study
Abstract : Aims: To evaluate urinary tract function and complications in a regional population with chronic traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI), to estimate risk profiles for recurring complications and improve follow-up for neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) after SCI. Materials and methods: 412 patients were included in the study as they consecutively attended an annual check-up visit at the regional out-patient centre the Spinalis clinic. READ MORE

5. Assisted reproduction technology in men with ejaculatory dysfunction with special reference to spinal cord injury
Abstract : Background: Men afflicted by spinal cord injury (SCI), myelomeningocele (MMC) and testicular cancer (TC) with retroperitoneal lymph-node dissection (RPLND) share the problem of infertility due mainly, but not exclusively, to neurologic impairment. This problem has historically been neglected, partly due to lack of effective treatment, partly due to lack of appreciation of the importance of sexual and procreational issues for rehabilitation outcomes and quality of life.
