    Abstract : The general aim of this thesis was to molecularly characterize urothelial carcinoma (UC) at the transcriptional level using gene expression microarrays to improve the classification and pathogenetic understanding of this disease. In the first two studies (Articles I and II), gene expression profiling was used to study dysregulated transcriptional networks in a large cohort of UCs. READ MORE

  4. 4. Genetic Characterization of Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors

    Author : Anna Dahlen; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; cytogenetik; Genetik; cytogenetics; mesenchymal tumor; pericytoma; Genetics; chondroma; lipoma;

    Abstract : Bone and soft tissue tumors (BSTT) constitute a heterogeneous group of neoplasms of mesenchymal and neuroectodermal origin. Although many BSTT are rare, it has become clear that BSTT are characterized by recurrent acquired chromosomal aberrations, and the general aim of this thesis have been to apply molecular genetic and molecular cytogenetic techniques to further characterize recurrent breakpoints and deletions, and to search for candidate target genes. Abstract : Acquired clonal chromosome aberrations, closely associated with leukemogenesis, are found in many hematologic malignancies. Although the balanced rearrangements, such as translocations and inversions, are the ones most commonly thought of in the context of leukemias, gains of chromosomes ? e.g.. READ MORE
