  1. 1. Altered movement patterns and deviating muscular activity in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

    Author : Anna Trulsson; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Movement pattern; Physiotherapy; Motor control; Sensorimotor control; Neuromuscular control; Anterior cruciate ligament; Muscular activity; Motor skills; Single leg squat; Electromyography EMG ; Postural orientation; Assessment; Task performance; Reproducibility of findings; Performance test; Hop test; knee; dynamic joint stability;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding of altered movement patterns in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in order to improve ACL rehabilitation, and to develop an observational instrument termed Test for Substitution Patterns (TSP) for standardized, quantifiable scoring of altered movement patterns in legs and trunk. In all, 142 participants, 93 with ACL-rupture (37 women) and 49 uninjured participants were investigated. READ MORE

  2. 2. How memory of the past, a predictable present and expectations of the future underpin adaptation to the sound environment

    Author : Anatole Nöstl; Patrik Sörqvist; Daniel Västfjäll; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Memory; Expectations; Adaptation; Habituation; Predictions; Attentional capture; Auditory distraction; Minne; förväntningar; anpassning; habituation; prediktioner; fångad uppmärksamhet; auditiv distraktion;

    Abstract : By using auditory distraction as a tool, the main focus of the present thesis is to investigate the role of memory systems in human adaptation processes towards changes in the built environment. Report I and Report II focus on the question of whether memory for regularities in the auditory environment is used to form predictions and expectations of future sound events, and if violations of these expectations capture attention. 3. 3. Thermodynamics of microscopic environments: From anomalous diffusion to heat engines

    Author : Aykut Argun; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microscopic thermodynamics; anomalous diffusion; deep learning; heat engines;

    Abstract : Till skillnad från deras makroskopiska motsvarigheter utvecklas inte mikroskopiska system deterministiskt på grund av inverkan från termiskt brus. Sådana system är föremål för fluktuationer som endast kan studeras inom ramen för stokastisk termodynamik. READ MORE

  4. 4. Specific language impairment: Neurophysiological studies of children and their parents

    Author : Marianne Ors; Klinisk neurofysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SPECT; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; N400; P300; P3; N1; ERPs; event-related brain potentials; children; developmental language delay; Specific language impairment; language disorder; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi;

    Abstract : Specific language impairment (SLI) is commonly described as a condition where a child with otherwise normal development and hearing does not acquire language as expected. Children with SLI often have a family history of language disorders. The aetiology is poorly understood. READ MORE

  5. 5. Premature birth - studies on orthodontic treatment need, craniofacial morphology and function

    Author : Liselotte Paulsson-Björnsson; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Få studier har utvärderat om det finns något samband mellan för tidig födsel och bettavvikelser eller behov av tandreglering. Dessutom har inga tidigare studier undersökt om för tidigt födda barn skiljer sig från barn födda efter fullgången graviditet avseende ansiktsmorfologi, huvudvärk och temporomanibular dysfunktion (TMD), dvs. READ MORE
