  1. 1. Neutrino interactions and axion emission impact on core-collapse supernova simulations

    Author : Aurore Betranhandy; Evan O'Connor; Jeremiah Murphy; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Core-Collapse Supernovae; simulations; CCSN; PNS; neutrino; axion; Astronomy; astronomi;

    Abstract : Core-Collapse Supernovae (CCSNe) are important phenomena in the scope of nucleosynthesis and, as the final stage of massive stars' life, they are key processes in the understanding of stellar evolution. They also are the birthplace of neutron stars and black holes, therefore they play a major role in the modelling and understanding of compact object mergers. READ MORE

  2. 2. CdTe detectors and the Mössbauer effect in ¹²⁵Te : investigations for an axion search

    Author : Lars Mårtensson; Bo Cederwall; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : The use of CdTe crystals as radiation detectors is hampered by the drift properties of charge carriers in CdTe, that make the response depend on the interaction point in the detector crystal. To remedy these effects a detailed model of the signal formation process in such detectors was developed and fitted to sampled pulse shapes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quest for quantum signatures in Axion Dark Matter and Gravity

    Author : Vasileios Fragkos; Igor Pikovski; Ingemar Bengtsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : Axion Dark Matter; Gravity; Quantum mechanics; Theoretical Physics; teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis in theoretical physics focuses on the existence of quantum features in physical systems such as axion dark matter and gravity. Our focus is mostly on effects which appear at low energies, a regime in which our models can be confronted with current experiments or within the foreseeable future. READ MORE

  4. 4. Enhancing Direct Searches for Dark Matter : Spatial-Temporal Modeling and Explicit Likelihoods

    Author : Bart Eduard Jan Pelssers; Jan Conrad; Jochen Schieck; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dark matter; direct detection; statistical analysis; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Astronomical and cosmological observations on different scales point to the existence of dark matter. In the current cosmological paradigm this dark matter accounts for about 26% of the energy-density of the universe, yet has not been directly observed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Topological Phase Transitions in Magnetic Nanostructures of Dirac Materials

    Author : Nezhat Pournaghavi; Carlo M. Canali; Michael Flatté; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Topological insulators; Magnetic materials; Quantum anomalous Hall effect; Topological magneto electric effect; Dirac semimetals; Weyl semimetals; Condensed Matter Physics; Kondenserade materians fysik;

    Abstract : Over the past two decades, the discovery of topological Dirac materials, such as topological insulators and semimetals, has defined a new paradigm in condensed matter physics and established new platforms for realizing spin electronic devices and quantum computing. The novel quantum properties of these materials, which are mainly due to the presence of strong spin-orbit coupling, are invariant under topological transformations, making them more resilient to structural disorder, electromagnetic and thermal fluctuations in comparison to the conventional silicon-based materials.
