  1. 1. Basic fibroblast growth factor for stimulation of bone formation in osteoinductive and conductive implants

    Author : Jian-Sheng Wang; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Biofysik; Biophysics; bone ingrowth; titanium chamber; hyaluronic acid; porous hydroxyapatite; bone graft; bFGF; demineralized bone matrix; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGF) is one of the endogenous factors found in bone matrix. bFGF is a mitogen for many cell types, including osteoblasts and chondrocytes. It can stimulate angiogenesis and osteoblast gene expression. READ MORE

  2. 2. Angiogenesis Related Markers In Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

    Author : Daniel Brattström; Ola Brodin; Gunnar Wagenius; Torgny Rasmusen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Lung cancer; NSCLC; Therapy; Angiogenesis; VEGF; bFGF; Microvessel density; Survival; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : This thesis investigated the predictive and the prognostic powers of angiogenesis related markers in both operable and inoperable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.In the first and second study, we investigated the serological fractions of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in 2 cohorts of patients with either operable or inoperable NSCLC. 3. 3. Optimisation of Chemotherapy Treatment in Advanced Colorectal Cancer

    Author : Åke Berglund; Ragnar Hultborn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Colorectal cancer; chemotherapy; 5-fluorouracil; dose-effect relationship; ex vivo assay; thymidylate synthase; p53; CEA; TPS; VEGF; bFGF.; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; onkologi;

    Abstract : Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignant diseases in Sweden – more than 5000 new cases are diagnosed each year. The overall five-year survival is about 60% and in cases of recurrence the prognosis is poor. READ MORE

  4. 4. Neuronal and glial differentiation of expanded neural stem and progenitor cells; in vitro and after transplantation

    Author : Cecilia Eriksson Linsmeier; Neurobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gtv-a; RCAS A -EGFP; transplantation; cell detection; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; GFP-actin; glial differentiation; neuronal differentiation; neurospheres; glial cultures; bFGF; EGF; cell expansion; cortical primordium; MGE; LGE; CNS; stem- progenitor cells;

    Abstract : In this thesis we have used cells dissected from the lateral ganglionic eminence (LGE), the medial ganglionic eminence (MGE), and the cortical primordium of the embryonic mouse forebrain. The tissue was dissected from either i) wild-type mice, ii) green fluorescent protein (GFP)-, or iii) Gtv-a-expressing transgenic mice, and subsequently grown and expanded in vitro using two different protocols. 5. 5. Collagenous Colitis : A Study of Inflammatory Mediators and Growth Factors Based on Segmental Colorectal Perfusion and Immunohistochemistry

    Author : Yesuf Ahmed Taha; Magnus Thörn; Yngve Raab; Lars Lööf; Mikael Lördal; Curt Tysk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : General; Collagenous; Collagenous colitis; inflammatory mediators; Steroid treatment; Eosinophil Cationic Protein; Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor bFGF ; Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor VEGF ; albumin; ALLMÄNT;

    Abstract : Collagenous colitis (CC) is an inflammatory bowel disease of unknown etiology. It is characterized by watery diarrhoea without blood, normal endoscopic findings but microscopically colonic mucosal inflammation and increased thickness of the subepithelial collagen band, the latter being a pathognomonic sign.
