    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a syndrome which is characterized of a disagreeable vaginal discharge but not necessarily an increase in discharge and is present in nearly 20-30% of women attending gynaecological out-patient clinics. Some women have BV unknowingly but others suffer the disagreeable discharge as a lifelong nuisance and areconstantly visiting physicians without relief. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mast cells in bacterial infections

    Author : Elin Rönnberg; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Mast cells are implicated in immunity towards bacterial infection, but the molecular mechanisms by which mast cells contribute to the host response are only partially understood. Previous studies have examined how mast cells react to purified bacterial cell wall components, such as peptidoglycan and lipopolysaccharide. READ MORE

  5. 5. Innate immunity to intracellular bacterial infections

    Author : Christian Trumstedt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Intracellular bacterial pathogens have developed mechanisms to enter and invade cells, to survive the immune response and to replicate inside the host. We studied the innate mechanisms that have evolved in the host to battle intracellular bacterial pathogens, such as the obligate intracellular Chlamydia pneumoniae and the facultative intracellular Listeria monocytogenes, which invade the respiratory and the gastrointestinal tracts in humans.
