Abstract : Ballet dancers have been shown to have frequent problems with the musculoskeletal system, but little is generally known about the prevalences of musculoskeletal disorders and about working conditions of professional ballet dancers in Sweden. The aims of the thesis were: to analyse the prevalence, location and recurrence of self-reported musculoskeletal disorders (pain) in professional ballet dancers and to study their association with background factors, amount of work, and the dancers'opinionsabout their psychosocial work environment. Abstract : This thesis is based upon a series of studies were performed in order to provide more information about the etiology of late symptoms after ankle sprain, most often referred to as functional instability of the ankle joint.
