  1. 1. Long-term outcome research on PDR brachytherapy with focus on breast, base of tongue and lip cancer

    Author : Bengt Johansson; Jan Persliden; Jan Nyman; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PDR; brachytherapy; outcome; partial breast irradiation; base of tongue cancer; lip cancer; quality of life; dosimetry.; Oncology; Onkologi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Onkologi; Oncology; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Brachytherapy (BT) with continuous low dose rate (LDR) has been used for 100 years and is considered as the radiotherapy method able to deliver a dose in the shortest time with high efficacy and low risk of side effects. The drawbacks are need for patient isolation and radiation exposure of the staff during the treatment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Study of Mutual Coupling in Finite Antenna Arrays for Massive MIMO Applications

    Author : Tomislav Marinovic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multiple scattering; Massive MIMO; mutual coupling MC ; 5G; iterative methods; base station antenna BSA ;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the study of mutual coupling (MC) in finite antenna arrays for base station antennas (BSAs) for Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) applications, with an emphasis on the development of a computationally-efficient modeling technique for the analysis of MC which can be readily applied in the design or synthesis schemes for BSAs. Traditionally, the effects of MC have been ignored or underestimated in the analyses performed within the information-theoretic-based communities by assuming idealized antenna elements with no MC between them or by considering the fictitious isotropic radiator models. 4. 4. Device design and process integration for SiGeC and Si/SOI bipolar transistors

    Author : Erik Haralson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Silicon-Germanium SiGe ; SiGeC; heterojunction bipolar transistor HBT ; nickel silicide; selectively implanted collector SIC ; device simulation; SiGeC layer staiblity; high resolution x-ray diffraction HRXRD ; silicon-on.insulator SOI ; self-heating;

    Abstract : SiGe is a significant enabling technology for therealization of integrated circuits used in high performanceoptical networks and radio frequency applications. In order tocontinue to fulfill the demands for these applications, newmaterials and device structures are needed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Sensitive Identification Tools in Forensic DNA Analysis

    Author : Hanna Edlund; Marie Allen; Niels Morling; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : forensic genetics; STRs; Y-chromosome; Pyrosequencing; mitochondrial DNA; skeletal remains; DNA extraction; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics;

    Abstract : DNA as forensic evidence is valuable in criminal investigations. Implementation of new, sensitive and fast technologies is an important part of forensic genetic research. This thesis aims to evaluate new sensitive methods to apply in forensic DNA analysis including analysis of old skeletal remains. READ MORE
