  1. 6. The Effect of Mechanical Characteristics of Basal Decollement and Basement Structures on Deformation of the Zagros Basin

    Author : Abbas Bahroudi; John Cosgrove; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : decollement; extension; Zagros; Hormuz salt; shortening; basement faults; Arabia; mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Abstract : Two fundamental structural elements, basement architecture and basal decollement, play a significant role in the evolution of a tectonically active region. Using different approaches (field data, literature review and analogue models) this thesis demonstrates that these two elements affected the deformation style in the Zagros fold-thrust belt during Mesozoic extensional and Cenozoic contractional episodes. 2. 7. Basement membrane heparan sulfate in atherogenesis and intimal hyperplasia

    Author : Karin Tran Lundmark; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cardiovascular disease due to atherosclerosis has become the leading cause of mortality in the world. Atherosclerosis is a progressive disease characterized by the accumulation of lipids, inflammatory cells, smooth muscle cells (SMCs) and extracellular matrix in the wall of large and medium-sized arteries. 3. 8. Laminin-1 and receptors : Laminin α1 chain in important for epithelial development

    Author : Mats Falk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; basement membrane; gene targeting; laminin α1; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Abstract : Laminins are heterotrimeric glycoproteins that are major components of all basement membranes. Integrins from the β1 -famjly and the dystroglycan complex have been shown to be important receptors attaching epithelial cells to the underlying basement membrane. READ MORE

  4. 9. The Laminins and their Receptors

    Author : Maria Ferletta; Taina Pihlajaniemi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Basement membrane; laminin; integrin; dystroglycan; epithelial cells; signal transduction; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Abstract : Basement membranes are thin extracellular sheets that surround muscle, fat and peripheral nerve cells and underlay epithelial and endothelial cells. Laminins are one of the main protein families of these matrices. Integrins and dystroglycan are receptors for laminins, connecting cells to basement membranes. READ MORE

  5. 10. Laminin G Domains, their Receptors, and Activation of Intracellular Pathways

    Author : Hao Yu; Klinisk minnesforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biomedicinska vetenskaper allmänt ; General biomedical sciences; cell-matrix interaction; signaling; receptor; Basement membrane; laminin;

    Abstract : Basement membranes are sheet like structures underlying epithelial, endothelial, adipocytes, muscle and peripheral nerve cells. Laminins are an important family of basement membrane proteins implicated in various biological functions through their interactions with cell surface receptors. Laminins are trimers composed of a, b and g chains. READ MORE
