1. Concrete creep and thermal stresses : new creep models and their effects on stress development
Abstract : This thesis deals with the problem of creep in concrete and its influence on thermal stress development. New test frames were developed for creep of high performance concrete and for measurements of thermal stress development. Tests were performed on both normal strength and high performance concretes. 2. Quasi-instantaneous and Long-term Deformations of High-Performance Concrete with Some Related Properties
Abstract : This report outlines an experimental and numerical study on quasi-instantaneous and long-term deformations of High-Performance Concrete, HPC, with some related properties. For this purpose about two hundred small cylinders and about one thousand cubes of eight types of HPC were cast. The age at loading varied between 18h and 28 days. READ MORE

3. On Rate-Dependency of Gothenburg Clay
Abstract : On Rate-Dependency of Gothenburg ClayMATS OLSSONDepartment of Civil and Environmental EngineeringDivision of GeoEngineeringChalmers University of TechnologyABSTRACTLong-term settlements in clay constitute a major engineering challenge in areas with deep deposits of soft clay. This dissertation aims to extend the understanding and theoretical framework of rate-dependent soil behaviour, so that uncertainties in predictions of long-term settlements are significantly reduced. 4. Lessons Learned in Structural Health Monitoring of Bridges Using Advanced Sensor Technology
Abstract : Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) with emerging technologies like e.g. fibre optic sensors, lasers, radars, acoustic emission and Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) made an entrance into the civil engineering field in last decades. Expansion of new technologies together with development in data communication benefited for rapid development. READ MORE

5. Fractional Calculus and Linear Viscoelasticity in Structural Dynamics
Abstract : The use of linear viscoelasticity together with fractional calculus in time-domain structural modeling is studied. Both constitutive and structural aspects are investigated. READ MORE
