  1. 1. The p97 ATPase and the Drosophila Proteasome : Protein Unfolding and Regulation

    Author : Kristian Björk Grimberg; Patrick Young; Neus Visa; Lars Thelander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proteasome; ubiquitin; p97; unfolding; regulation; RNAi screen; high-throughput screen; cnc; basic leucine zipper; transcription factors; proteasome inhibition; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : For all living systems, there is a requirement to recycle and regulate proteins. In eukaryotic organisms this is accomplished by the proteasome. The p97 ATPase is another highly conserved and essential complex present throughout the eukaryotic cell. READ MORE

  2. 2. Unravelling Mechanistic Insights of Eukaryotic Transcriptional Control

    Author : Johanna Hörberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Transcriptional control; Gene expression regulation; DNA supercoiling; DNA methylation; DNA-protein recognition; Basic-Leucine-Zipper transcription factors; Basic-Helix-Loop-Helix transcription factors; Sequence specific DNA plasticity; Transcription factor cooperativity; Cancer; Molecular modelling; Molecular dynamics;

    Abstract : DNA transcription involves the association of multiple proteins with DNA to convert the genetic information into messenger-RNA transcripts, which later will be translated into proteins. Con-trolled regulation of transcription is imperative for preserving the healthy and homeostatic state of cells. READ MORE

  3. 3. Studies of the C/EBP family of transcription factors : cloning, regulation, and expression

    Author : Per Antonson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Basic leucine zipper; CCAATEnhancer Binding Protein; CEBP; DNA binding protein; Gene expression; Transcription factor;

    Abstract : The CCAAT/Enhancer Binding Protein (C/EBP) family belongs to the basic leucine zipper class of transcription factors with a total of 6 members having been identified in this family so far. This gene family has been mainly implicated in regulation of cell specific gene expression and differentiation. READ MORE

  4. 4. bHLH transcription factors in differentiating neuroblastoma cells

    Author : Anna Grynfeld; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bHLH; Neuroblastoma; HES-1; HASH-1; N-Myc; differentiation; Mad; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Abstract : Neuroblastoma is a tumor of the sympathetic nervous system, and arises during early childhood. The tumor is highly heterogeneous and evidence, such as expression of genes normally only expressed during embryonic and fetal stages, suggests that the tumor is of embryonic origin and that the tumor arises as a consequence of perturbed differentiation during the development of the sympathetic nervous system. 5. 5. Myc oncoprotein cofactor interactions : function, regulation and targeting

    Author : Karin Ridderstråle; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The members of the Myc-family of proto-oncoproteins c-Myc, N-Myc and L-Myc are transcription factors exerting their effect via protein-protein interactions. The Myc proteins are basic-helix-loop-helix-leucine-zipper (bHLHzip) transcription factors, which after heterodimerization with their obligatory partner Max, bind to E-boxes in target gene promoters and regulate the expression of 10-15% of all genes by the recruitment of different cofactors.
