  1. 1. Wind Power Integration in Power Systems with Transmission Bottlenecks

    Author : Julija Matevosyan; Lennart Söder; Olav Bjarte Fosso; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wind power; hydro power; transmission bottlenecks; stochastic optimization; Electric power engineering; Elkraftteknik;

    Abstract : During the last two decades, the increase in electricity demand and environmental concern resulted in fast growth of power production from renewable sources. Wind power is one of the most efficient alternatives. READ MORE

  2. 2. Low-Cost Iron-Based Cathode Materials for Large-Scale Battery Applications

    Author : Anton Nytén; Josh Thomas; Jean-Marie Tarascon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Inorganic chemistry; Li-ion battery; cathode material; lithium iron phosphate; lithium iron silicate; X-ray powder diffraction; Mössbauer spectroscopy; photoelectron spectroscopy; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : There are today clear indications that the Li-ion battery of the type currently used worldwide in mobile-phones and lap-tops is also destined to soon become the battery of choice in more energy-demanding concepts such as electric and electric hybrid vehicles (EVs and EHVs). Since the currently used cathode materials (typically of the Li(Ni,Co)O2-type) are too expensive in large-scale applications, these new batteries will have to exploit some much cheaper transition-metal. 3. 3. Achilles tendinopathy : evaluation and treatment

    Author : Karin Grävare Silbernagel; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : Tendinopathy > therapy; Achilles tendon > pathology; Clinical protocols >;

    Abstract : Abstract. Background: Achilles tendinopathy is considered to be one of the most common overuse injuries in elite and recreational athletes. There are, however, only a few randomized studies of treatment and there is a need for standardized outcome measures for the patients? symptoms and function. READ MORE

  4. 4. Feedback Linux Scheduling and a Simulation Tool for Wireless Control

    Author : Martin Ohlin; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Linux; Scheduling; Resource Reservation; Feedback Scheduling; Simulation Tools;

    Abstract : Computing systems are becoming more and more complex and powerful. It is nowadays not uncommon to run several server applications on the same physical platform. This gives rise to a need for resource reservation techniques, so that administrators may prioritize some tasks, or customers, over others. READ MORE

  5. 5. Modality in Japanese

    Author : Lars Larm; University of London SOAS; []

    Abstract : This thesis offers a detailed structural account of a full range of grammatical markers available for the expression of modality in Japanese. Twenty modal expressions are systematically analyzed in the context of a Western typological approach, with special attention being paid to the issue of subjectivity, in the spirit of the indigenous grammatical tradition.
