6. Particle motion, coating and drying in Wurster fluidized beds - An experimental and discrete element modeling study
Abstract : This thesis focuses on developing a mathematical model that is capable of predicting the fluidized bed coating process. First a basic understanding of pellet motion in a Wurster fluidized bed was established by conducting a series of experiments using the positron emission particle tracking (PEPT) technique. READ MORE

7. A new measurement method to analyse the thermochemical conversion of solid fuels
Abstract : The firing of fuel wood has been identified as one of themain causes of pollutant emissions from small-scale (.... READ MORE

8. Emissions of volatile organic compounds from wood
Abstract : The central aim of this thesis is to support the efforts to counteract certain environmental problems caused by emissions of volatile organic compounds. The purpose of this work was (1) to develop a method to establish the amount of emitted substances from dryers, (2) to determine the effect of drying medium temperature and end moisture content of the processed material on emissions of monoterpenes and other hydrocarbons, (3) to examine the emissions of monoterpenes during production of pellets, and (4) to examine the natural emissions from forests with an eye to implications for modelling. 9. Improved Fluidized Bed Drying Technology for Wood Fuels
Abstract : In this thesis, I discuss experiences from designing, building and evaluating two research plants, which use circulating, atmospheric pressure superheated steam as drying medium for drying sawdust in a fluidized bed. The increased use of pellets has created a demand for new drying equipment at the Swedish pellet plants. READ MORE

10. Modelling of biofuel combustion in fixed beds
Abstract : Fixed bed combustion is common is small to medium scale heat production in grate furnaces and domestic boilers. Modelling of these fuel beds can give a better understanding of the conversion process inside them, and provide a tool for analyzing the performance of furnaces and problems related to the fuel bed.
