  1. 1. Modeling flow and sediment transport in water bodies and watersheds

    Author : Muluneh Admass Mekonnen; Bijan Dargahi; Anders Wörman; Hans Bergh; Edward Buchak; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bed load transport model; ECOMSED; Hydrology; Hydrodynamics; Spectral Analysis; SWAT; Water engineering; Vattenteknik;

    Abstract : The research focus is on the various modeling aspects of flow and sediment transport in water bodies and watersheds. The interaction of flow with a mobile bed involves a complex process in which various turbulent scales characterized by coherent structures cause a chaotic sediment motion. READ MORE

  2. 2. Field Measurements and Predictions of River Flow, Sediment Transport and Morphological Changes

    Author : Qiancheng Xie; Staffan Lundström; James Yang; J. Gunnar I. Hellström; Anders G. Andersson; Nils Ruther; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alluvial river; Sediment transport; Morphological change; Meandering; Confluence-diffluence; River training; Field measurements; Numerical simulations; Physical model tests; Machine learning; Alluvial flod; Sedimenttransport; Morfologisk förändring; Slingrande; Konfluens-diffluens; Flodträning; Fältmätningar; Numeriska simuleringar; Fysiska modellprov; Maskininlärning; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Abstract : In an alluvial lowland river, sediment is transported in the form of suspended and bed loads. The fluvial process is the macroscopic view and long-term consequence of sediment movement. READ MORE

  3. 3. 3-D numerical modeling of flow and sediment transport in rivers

    Author : Muluneh Admass; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; River model; ECOMSED model; River Klarälven; Bed load transport model; Miljöteknik; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : The fully integrated 3-D, time dependant, hydrodynamic and sediment transport numerical model ECOMSED was used to simulate flow and sediment transport in rivers. ECOMSED was originally developed for large water bodies such as lakes and oceans and solves the primitive equations of RANS along with a second order turbulence model in an orthogonal curvilinear σ- coordinate system. 4. 4. Development, validation and application of an effective convectivity model for simulation of melt pool heat transfer in a light water reactor lower head

    Author : Chi Thanh Tran; Truc-Nam Dinh; Florian Fichot; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; light water reactor; hypothetical severe accident; accident progression; accident scenario; core melt pool; heat transfer; turbulent natural convection; heat transfer coefficient; phase change; mushy zone; crust; lower plenum; analytical model; effective convectivity model; CFD simulation.; Other physics; Övrig fysik;

    Abstract : Severe accidents in a Light Water Reactor (LWR) have been a subject of the research for the last three decades. The research in this area aims to further understanding of the inherent physical phenomena and reduce the uncertainties surrounding their quantification, with the ultimate goal of developing models that can be applied to safety analysis of nuclear reactors. 5. 5. Modelling and Simulation of Thermal Radiation in Biomass Combustion

    Author : Thomas Nilsson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat load; gas turbine; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; porous media; fixed bed; biomass; wood; FG-DVC; combustion; DOM; P1-approximation; Mie theory; RDG-PFA; EWBM; thermal radiation; soot;

    Abstract : This thesis presents numerical investigations and simulations of fixed bed combustion of wood, models for predicting thermal radiative properties of particles and gases related to the combustion of wood, and a review of heat load calculations in gas turbines. All subjects have a common factor in thermal radiation. READ MORE
