  3. 3. Aspects of building geometry and powder characteristics in powder bed fusion

    Author : Alexander Leicht; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; direct metal laser sintering; stainless steel; powder recycling; thin wall structures; 316L; microstructure; electron beam melting; powder bed fusion; additive manufacturing;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM) produces near-net-shaped parts directly from a 3D-CAD model in a layer-by-layer manner. One of the most common AM technique for fabricating metallic components is powder bed fusion (PBF). The PBF process has shown great potential in fabricating metallic parts with properties better or comparable to conventional methods. READ MORE

  4. 4. Chemical Properties of FBC Ashes

    Author : Britt-Marie Steenari; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; straw ash; environmental impact of ash handling; sintering; deposits; fouling; wood ash recycling; FBC; ash leaching; ash chemistry; PFBC; forest fertiliser; ash hydration reactions; fuel additives; wood ash characteristics; CaS; ash melting; plant nutrient recycling;

    Abstract : In this thesis several aspects of ash chemistry are discussed. An issue of primary concern for boiler operators is the formation of ash deposits. New biomass fuels are introduced, many of which have unfavourable ash melting behaviour due to high levels of alkali metal species and chlorine. READ MORE

  5. 5. Slag formation in fixed bed combustion of phosphorus-poor biomass

    Author : Ida-Linn Näzelius; Marcus Öhman; Bengt-Johan Skrifvars; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biomass; slagging; fixed bed; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Abstract : To handle a great demand for biomass, alternative biomasses beyond stem wood are being introduced into the solid fuel combustion market, fuels with generally higher (>0,5 wt-%) ash content and different fuel ash compositions compared to stem wood, such as forest residue, bark, grass and straw. Unfortunately, combustion of these alternative fuels often causes more ash related problems such as fouling, slagging and higher particle emissions compared to combustion of stem wood. READ MORE
