  1. 1. Coordination Chemistry of Monocarboxylate and Aminocarboxylate Complexes at the Water/Goethite Interface

    Author : Katarina Norén; Per Persson; Staffan Sjöberg; Stephan J. Hug; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acetate; benzoate; adsorption; surface complex; ternary surface complexes; ATR-FTIR spectroscopy; EXAFS spectroscopy.; cyclohexanecarboxylate; sarcosine; MIDA; EDDA; EDTA; gallium III ; goethite; mineral surface; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is a summary of five papers with focus on adsorption processes of various monocarboxylates and aminocarboxylates at the water/goethite interface. Interaction of organic acids at the water/mineral interfaces are of importance in biogeochemical processes, since such processes have potential to alter mobility and bioavailability of the acids and metal ions. 2. 2. Diffusion in cationic vesicle and micellar solutions- a NMR study

    Author : Cecilia Groth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; vesicles; Stopped-flow; micellar kinetics; water transport; DSC; Gemini surfactant; permeability; NOESY; Cationic surfactant; NMR diffusometry; extrusion;

    Abstract : Double tailed cationic surfactants are the active component in softeners. In the beginning of the 90s the active component in softener formulations was changed from a hydrolytically stable dialkyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (dialkyl quat) to a cleavable and biodegradable product containing ester groups in the alkyl chains (dialkyl ester quat). 3. 3. Anaerobic degradation of phenol and related aromatics

    Author : Anna Karlsson; James M. Tiedje; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Aromatic compunds; anaerobic degradation; Fysik; Kemi; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : Phenol and other simple aromatic compounds have been found in water leached from landfills, showing that these types of compounds could be either present in disposed waste, or released from it via transformation and degradation processes. Hence, the fate anddegradation potential of such compounds under landfilling conditions is of great concern. READ MORE

  4. 4. Immunomodulation by estrogen and estren

    Author : Ulrika Islander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : estrogen receptor knock-out mice; estrogen; estren; estrogen receptor; lymphopoiesis; T cells; B cells; immunoglobulin; inflammation;

    Abstract : Estrogen affects the development and regulation of the immune system. Treatment of gonadectomized mice with estrogen results in suppression of T and B lymphopoiesis, as well as decreased delayed type hypersensitivity reaction, granulocyte mediated inflammation and levels of IL-6 in serum. 5. 5. On the Use of 76Br-labelled Monoclonal Antibodies for PET : Preclinical Evaluation of Halogenated Antibodies for Diagnosis and Treatment of Cancer

    Author : Johanna Höglund; Katrine Riklund-Åhlström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; bromine-76; positron emission tomography; monoclonal antibodies; cancer; direct and indirect radiohalogenation; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; radiologi; Radiology;

    Abstract : Radioactive substances are used in vivo to localize and characterize malignant tumours, generally by scintigraphic methods. In this context positron emission tomography (PET) in combination with radiolabelled monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) may provide a sensitive and specific method for detection of cancer. READ MORE
