    Abstract : INFLAMMATORY MECHANISMS IN PULMONARY SARCOIDOSIS by Mary Berlin Department of Medicine, Division of Respiratory Medicine, Karolinska Hospital, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden Pulmonary sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disorder of unknown aetiology, characterised by an accumulation of CD4+ T-cells in the alveolar compartment and by granuloma formation and varying degrees of interstitial fibrosis. The initial clinical presentation may either be acute with fever, malaise, arthritis and/or erythema nodosum or insidious with cough, dyspnea, tiredness, and loss of weight. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of economic forest tree breeding objectives

    University dissertation from ; Dept. of Plant Biology and Forest Genetics, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences

    Author : Mats Berlin; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet.; [2009]

    Abstract : The overall objective of this thesis was to suggest a framework for developing forest tree breeding objectives with particular emphasis on boreal conditions and, as components of this framework, to define breeding objectives and calculate economic weights based on two case studies of Scots pine in northern Sweden. The framework was designed to take into account boreal conditions, with long rotations, heterogeneous raw materials and a diverse production system. READ MORE

    Abstract : This thesis describes how radical cyclization chemistry can be applied for the construction of heterocyclic compounds.In the first part, a series of electron deficient α-phenylselenenylalkenes were prepared via a PhSeCl-addition/HCl-elimination sequence. READ MORE

  5. 5. Oblique waves in boundary layer transition

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Mekanik

    Author : Stellan Berlin; KTH.; [1998]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Traditional research on laminar-turbulent transition has focused on scenarios that are caused by the exponential growth of eigensolutions to the linearized disturbance equations, e.g. two-dimensional Tollmien-Schlichting waves. READ MORE
