  1. 1. Competitive Protein Adsorption during Spray-drying

    Author : Karin Landström; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Livsmedelsteknik; Food and drink technology; pyrene; quenching; fluorescence; beta-casein; beta-lactoglobulin; bovine serum albumin; milk proteins; Spray-drying; competitive adsorption; Surface and boundary layery chemistry; Ytkemi; gränsskikt;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to study competitive adsorption of milk proteins during spray-drying. For this purpose, a new surface sensitive method was developed which measures the quantitative amount of specific proteins at the powder surface. READ MORE

  2. 2. Dairy cattle mating plans at herd level using genomic information

    Author : Christian Bengtsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Genotyping of dairy cattle can benefit farmers by increasing the accuracy of breeding values and improving mating plans at herd level. Validation studies on breeding values in this thesis revealed that for the vast majority of traits analysed in Holstein, Jersey and Nordic Red Dairy Cattle, genomically enhanced breeding values for virgin heifers were able to predict cow performance significantly more accurately than parent average breeding values. 3. 3. Milk Membrane Lipids - Dispersions, Emulsions and Interactions with Proteins

    Author : Rianne Waninge; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Model milk membrane lipids; Emulsions; Vesicles; Cryo-TEM; Milk fat globule membrane; MFGM; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Abstract : Milk is a dilute aqueous dispersion with a complex mixture of proteins, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Milk membrane lipids are a part of the milk fat globule membrane (MFGM), which covers the fat globules. During dairy processing membrane material is released and surface structure features are altered. READ MORE

  4. 4. STAT5 expression and regulation in mammary epithelial cells

    Author : Hanne Olsen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : STAT5; JAK2; PPAR-gamma; ER; MAPK; mammary epithelial cell differentiation;

    Abstract : The mammary gland of an adult mammal undergoes cycles of proliferation and differentiation influenced by growth factors, peptide, and steroid hormones, e.g. epidermal growth factor (EGF), prolactin (PRL) and estrogen (E). READ MORE

  5. 5. Estrogen receptor signalling in mammary epithelial cells

    Author : Malin Hedengran Faulds; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ER; STAT5; mammary epithelial cell differentiation; EGF; DAX-1;

    Abstract : The mammary gland is a complex tissue going through cycles of extensive proliferation and differentiation. Many hormones are involved in the regulation of development of the mammary gland, including estrogen, prolactin and epidermal growth factor (EGF). READ MORE
