  1. 1. Asymmetric Oligothiophenes : Chemical Evolution of Multimodal Amyloid Ligands

    Author : Leif B.G. Johansson; Peter Nilsson; Peter Konradsson; Mikael Elofsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Luminescent conjugated polymers (LCPs) and luminescent conjugated oligothiophenes (LCOs) can be used as molecular probes to study diseases associated with protein aggregation. The conventionally used dyes to study and detect protein aggregates, denoted amyloid, have been Congo red (CR) and Thioflavin T (ThT). READ MORE

  2. 2. Simulation and Electrical Evaluation of 4H-SiC Junction Field Effect Transistors and Junction Barrier Schottky Diodes with Buried Grids

    Author : Jang-Kwon Lim; Hans-Peter Nee; Mietek Bakowski; Ichiro Omura; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Silicon carbide SiC ; junction field-effect transistors JFETs ; junction barrier schottky diode JBS ; schottky barrier diode SBD ; buried-grid BG technology; simulation; implantation; epitaxial growth; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Silicon carbide (SiC) has higher breakdown field strength than silicon (Si), which enables thinner and more highly doped drift layers compared to Si. Consequently, the power losses can be reduced compared to Si-based power conversion systems. Moreover, SiC allows the power conversion systems to operate at high temperatures up to 250 oC. READ MORE

  3. 3. Immunocompromised Patients. Infections, Diagnostics and Nosocomial Transmission

    Author : Anna Stjärne Asplund; Infektionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The aim of the work presented in this thesis was to improve the management of infections in immunocompromised patients by studying aspects of diagnostics, epidemiology and nosocomial transmission. Infection and rejection are common complications in lung-transplant patients, and early diagnosis and treatment are important for a positive outcome. READ MORE

  4. 4. From market orientation to orientation towards international marjets (OIM) of born global firms : evaluating the impact of OIM on born global firms' performance

    Author : Rosalina Torres-Ortega; Spain Autonomous University of Barcelona; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Born global firms; market orientation; orientation towards international markets; performance; scale validation; multi-country approach; structural equation model; Företagsekonomi; Business administration;

    Abstract : Although there is a considerable amount of research on market orientation, research on this concept in the context of born global firms is still lacking a precise definition and full operationalization. This research aims to investigate how the market orientation (MO) concept could be understood for a specific type of firm: the born global firm. READ MORE

  5. 5. Computational Dissection of the Basal Ganglia : functions and dynamics in health and disease

    Author : Mikael Lindahl; Jeanette Hällgren Kotaleski; Mark Humphries; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : The basal ganglia (BG), a group of nuclei in the forebrain of all vertebrates, are important for behavioral selection. BG receive contextual input from most cortical areas as well as from parts of the thalamus, and provide output to brain systems that are involved in the generation of behavior, i.e. the thalamus and the brain stem.
