  1. 1. Regulation of digestive organ. An experimental study on the role of CCK, Bile and EGF

    Author : Bodil Ohlsson; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; trophic effects; total parenteral nutrition; salivary glands; pancreaticobiliary diversion; pancreas; liver; intestinal mucosa; epidermal growth factor; cholecystokinin; biliodigestive shunt; Bile; bilary tract; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; Gastro-enterology; Gastroenterologi;

    Abstract : Cholecystokinin (CCK) is known to exert secretory and trophic effects on the pancreas. Its release from the intestinal mucosa is regulated by pancresic proteases in the small intestine. However, knowledge about the type of responding exocrine cells and the time course of events during stimulation with CCK is lacking. READ MORE

  2. 2. Bile salt sulphation in man : in vitro studies with special reference to the enzymatic mechanisms of human bile salt sulphation

  3. 3. Bile Acid Induced Diarrhoea Pathophysiological and Clinical Aspects

    Author : Antal Bajor; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Diarrhoea; bile acid transport; bile acid synthesis; 75SeHCAT reproducibility; C4; budesonide; collagenous colitis; in vitro; malabsorption; ASBT; intestinal secretion; potential difference; manometry;

    Abstract : A common cause for referral to gastroenterologists is chronic watery diarrhoea. Approximately 40% of these patients have idiopathic bile acid malabsorption (BAM) ? a condition with unknown aetiology. The 75SeHCAT test, which correlates inversely with faecal excretion and hepatic synthesis of bile acids, is used to diagnose BAM. READ MORE

  4. 4. Fish bile in environmental analysis

    Author : Margaretha Adolfsson-Erici; Michael McLachlan; Lillemor Asplund; Freek Ariese; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fish bile estrogenic triclosan rubber additives pulp and paper; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : This work explores the usefulness of fish bile analysis in combination with biomarkers for identifying and evaluating new environmental contaminants in the aquatic environment. It illustrates how bile analysis can be used together with biomarkers to assess the causes of estrogenic effects, to identify chemicals in the aquatic environment that are taken up by fish, and to monitor environmental exposure. 5. 5. Gut microbial regulation of bile acid metabolism and signaling

    Author : Sama I. Sayin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Gut Microbiota; Bile Acids;

    Abstract : The collection of microbes in our gastrointestinal tract, the gut microbiota, is an environmental factor that has profound impact on host health and disease. Bile acids are endogenous cholesterol-derived molecules that can be modified by the gut microbiota and function as signaling molecules in regulation of host metabolic processes. READ MORE
