  1. 1. C–H activation through late transition metal cyclometallation. Addressing selectivity and reactivity problems

    Author : Mikhail Kondrashov; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; C—H activation; cyclometallation; pincer ligands; anion exchange; bimetallic complexes; oxidative functionalisation;

    Abstract : The ligand-directed C—H activation relies on a coordinating donor atom being in proximity to the C—H bond activated. Cyclometallation of 2-(1-naphthyl)-pyridine – a substrate containing both γ- and δ-positions in proximity to the directing nitrogen atom – was studied. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of metal complexes for water oxidation

    Author : Bao-Lin Lee; Björn Åkermark; Xiaodong Zou; Antoni Llobet; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : In an artificial version of photosynthesis, sunlight and water are used to produce fuels. Our research focuses on the bottleneck in this process, the photooxidation of water. In the course of developing a water oxidation catalyst, a number of metal complexes have been synthesised, characterised, and studied for catalytic activity. READ MORE

  3. 3. Transition metal-catalyzed reduction of carbonyl compounds : Fe, Ru and Rh complexes as powerful hydride mediators

    Author : Elina Buitrago; Hans Adolfsson; Robert Morris; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Asymmetric catalysis; amino acid; N-heterocyclic carbene; iron; ruthenium; rhodium; mechanistic investigation; kinetic study; asymmetric transfer hydrogenation; hydrosilylation; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : A detailed mechanistic investigation of the previously reported ruthenium pseudo-dipeptide-catalyzed asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (ATH) of aromatic ketones was performed. It was found that the addition of alkali metals has a large influence on both the reaction rate and the selectivity, and that the rate of the reaction was substantially increased when THF was used as a co-solvent. 4. 4. New Materials in Environmental Catalysis

    Author : Magnus Skoglundh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cobalt; Copper; Xylene oxidation; Platinum; Carbon monoxide oxidation; exhaust gas catalysis; Rhodium; Palladium; Nitric oxide reduction; perovskites;

    Abstract : This thesis presents new approaches to the control of emissions within the field of environmental catalysis. Three catalytic systems; bimetallic catalysts, perovskites and promoted catalysts have been prepared and evaluated for complete oxidation of volatile organic compounds and for simultaneous conversion of CO, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides.
