1. Some binary response situations : theory and applications
Abstract : In a binary response situation we are studying an event which either occurs or does not occur. Such situations are treated in the following five reports. In report I, there is a review of different statistical models and analysis methods for, in particular, nonexperimental surveys. READ MORE

2. Brain Emotional Learning-Inspired Models
Abstract : In this thesis the mammalian nervous system and mammalian brain have been used as inspiration to develop a computational intelligence model based on the neural structure of fear conditioning and to extend the structure of the previous proposed amygdala-orbitofrontal model. The proposed model can be seen as a framework for developing general computational intelligence based on the emotional system instead of traditional models on the rational system of the human brain. 3. Topics in optimal design of experiments
Abstract : This thesis contributes to optimal design of experiments in situations where the optimal design depends on unknown parameters. Such situations often occur when the response variable does not have normal distribution, as is the case with many generalized linear models (GLM) and many models for binary response. READ MORE

4. Reinforcement Learning Using Local Adaptive Models
Abstract : In this thesis, the theory of reinforcement learning is described and its relation to learning in biological systems is discussed. Some basic issues in reinforcement learning, the credit assignment problem and perceptual aliasing, are considered. The methods of temporal difference are described. READ MORE

5. A Non-Stationary perspective on the European and Swedish Business Cycle
Abstract : Business cycles, the ups and downs observed somewhat simultaneously in numerous macroeconomic variables in an economy and often measured using real GDP, are important and, despite much economic research, still incom- pletely understood. Dating the business cycle has always been of interest in macroeconomic research. READ MORE
