  1. 6. Polyelectrolyte adsorption on oppositely charged surfaces - Conformation and adsorption kinetics

    Author : Lars-Erik Enarsson; Lars Wågberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polyelectrolyte adsorption; adsorption kinetics; adsorption isotherms; conformation; bridging; stagnation point adsorption reflectometry; quartz crystal microgravimetry; polyelectrolyte titration; cationic polyacrylamide; cationic dextran; colloidal silica; silica surfaces; pulp; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Denna avhandling presenterar experimentella studier av polyelektrolytadsorption på motsatt laddade ytor, där substrat av både kiseloxid och blekt barrsulfatmassa har använts. Ett huvudsakligt syfte med denna forskning var att karaktärisera konformationen hos adsorberade skikt av katjonisk polyakrylamid (CPAM) i jämförelse med katjonisk dextran (Cdextran) och relatera denna information till inbindningskapaciteten av kolloidal kiselsyra. 2. 7. Microsomal glutathione transferase : studies on the kinetic mechanism, species variety, binding properties and substrate measurement

    Author : Tie-Hua Sun; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Microsomal glutathione transferase (MGST) is a membrane bound detoxification enzyme, which has been purified from different species including rat, mouse, human, frog, and fish. The rat MGST1 is localized predominantly in the liver microsomes and the outer mitochondrial membrane. READ MORE

  3. 8. Effects of polyelectrolyte conformation, charge density and ion specificity in polyelectrolyte and polyelectrolyte-drug interaction

    Author : Andreas M. Hugerth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Physical and Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; fysikalisk och oorganisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Abstract : The central theme is how the structural characteristics of sulphated polyelectrolytes and theirinteraction with counter- and coions determine the degree of polyelectrolyte self-association (gelformation), interaction with oppositely charged polyelectrolyte and polyelectrolyte-amphiphilic druginteraction in protolytic solvent medium. Such knowledge is essential for understanding and regulatingthe interaction between polyelectrolytes as well as between polyelectrolytes and a drug substance in apharmaceutical formulation and for its fate in the human organism. 4. 9. Association Phenomena in Aqueous Solutions of Surfactants and Hydrophobically Modified Polymers

    Author : Susanne Nilsson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self-diffusion; rheology; cellulose ethers; associating polymers; polymer-surfactant interactions; polymer network; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry;

    Abstract : Interactions between ionic surfactants (sodium dodecyl sulfate and dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride) and nonionic polymers ((hydroxyethyl)cellulose, ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose and their hydrophobically modified analogous) have been studied by means of rheology, pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG NMR), time-resolved fluorescence quenching (TRFQ), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM). In all experiments surfactants have been added in various amounts to polymer solutions at fixed concentrations. READ MORE

  5. 10. Protein-surfactant interactions

    Author : Ank Valstar; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Protein-surfactant interactions in aqueous media have been investigated. The globular proteins lysozyme and bovine serum albumin (BSA) served as model proteins. Several ionic and non-ionic surfactants were used.Fluorescence probe measurements showed that at low sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) concentration (< 0. READ MORE
