  1. 11. Column Development in Capillary Electrophoresis and Electrochromatography for Bioanalytical Applications

    Author : Nina Johannesson; Jonas Bergquist; Karin Markides; Abdul Malik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Capillary electrophoresis CE ; Capillary electrochromatography CEC ; Mass spectrometry MS ; Bioanalysis; Sample pretreatment; Sol-gel; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Analysis of biological samples can be a difficult task. This thesis covers a broad aspect of the analytical areas of capillary electrophoresis (CE) and capillary electrochromatography (CEC) in combination with mass spectrometry (MS) that are of great importance for achieving fast, accurate and sensitive bioanalyses. 2. 12. Mass Spectrometry Strategies for Characterization of Contact Allergens and their Protein Conjugates in Vitro and in Vivo

    Author : Lorena Ndreu; Isabella Karlsson; Margareta Törnqvist; Ulrika Nilsson; Maja Aleksic; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mass spectrometry; Skin allergy; Protein Adducts; In vitro methods; Bioanalysis; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Humans are daily exposed to chemicals from various sources, including cosmetics, jewelry, clothes, and hair dyes, which can result in the occurrence of contact allergy and subsequent allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), a type IV delayed hypersensitivity reaction. ACD is characterized by inflammation and eczema at the site of exposure, and no definitive cure for this condition has been identified to date, with only symptomatic treatment options involving corticosteroids being available. 3. 13. Bioanalysis using capillary electrophoresis and mass spectrometry : Applied on proteins, protein nanofibrils and polyvinyl alcohol microbubbles

    Author : Leila Josefsson; Åsa Emmer; Ulrika Nilsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; : amyloid; capillary electrophoresis; contrast agents; detection; human blood plasma; ionic liquids; mass spectrometry; microbubbles; polyvinyl alcohol microbubbles; protein nanofibrils; proteins; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The sequencing of the genome of various species, including the human species, have led to increased understanding about how a protein structure is generated, and how specific structures are related to the proteins’ functionality. In paper I and II of this thesis, the folding of proteins in vitro to form hierarchical nanostructures, which in vivo often have a pathological effect, have been studied. READ MORE

  5. 15. Novel Microextraction Techniques for Bioanalysis of Neurotransmitters and Biomarkers in Biological Fluids

    Author : Aziza El Beqqali; Mohamed AbdelRehim; Anders Colmsjö; Lennart Mathiasson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Sample preparation (sample pre-treatment) is the initial step and an essential part in bioanalysis procedure. The main role of sample preparation is to extract and transfer the analyte(s) of interest from a complex matrix to a purified media such as a pure solvent for analysis and quantification. READ MORE
