  1. 6. Techno-economic analysis of integrated biomass gasification for green chemical production

    Author : Jim Andersson; Anders Hultgren; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Production of renewable motor fuels and green chemicals is important in the development towards a more sustainable society where fossil fuels are replaced. The global annual production of methanol and ammonia from fossil fuels is very large. READ MORE

  2. 7. Assessing the sustainability of bioethanol production in different development contexts: A systems approach

    Author : Dilip Khatiwada; Semida Silveira; Faaij André; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bioenergy and biofuel; bioethanol industry; development trend; sustainability assessment; climate change mitigation; energy security; life cycle assessment; systems optimisation; bioenergi och biobränsle; bioetanolindustri; utvecklingstrender; hållbarhetsbedömning; motverka klimatförändringar; energisäkerhet; livscykelanalys; systemoptimering; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Abstract : The continuous depletion of fossil fuel reserves, the global agenda on climate change and threats to energy security have led to increased global interest in the exploration, production and utilisation of bioenergy and biofuels. Access to modern bioenergy carriers derived from the efficient conversion of locally available biomass resources is indispensable for economic growth, rural development and sustainable development in developing countries. 3. 8. Emissions from realistic operation of residential wood pellets heating systems

    Author : Kaung Myat Win; Rebei Bel Fdhila; Tomas Persson; Erik Dahlquist; Henrik Thunman; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wood pellet; Heating; Combustion; boiler; stove; emissions; particulate matter; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik; SWX-Energi; Integrerade system för sol och biobränsle;

    Abstract : Emissions from residential combustion appliances vary significantly depending on the firing behaviours and combustion conditions, in addition to combustion technologies and fuel quality. Although wood pellet combustion in residential heating boilers is efficient, the combustion conditions during start-up and stop phases are not optimal and produce significantly high emissions such as carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon from incomplete combustion. 4. 9. With district heating toward a sustainable future : System studies of district heating and cooling that interact with power, transport and industrial sectors

    Author : Danica Djuric Ilic; Louise Trygg; Björn Karlsson; Erik Dalhquist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to identify measures which should be taken in DH systems (DHSs) in order to contribute to the development of the DHSs and other energy systems (especially transport, industrial and power sectors) toward sustainability.Four business strategies were analysed: delivering excess heat from biofuel production industry to DHSs, conversion of industrial processes to DH, integration of biofuel production in DHSs and integration of DHdriven absorption cooling technology in DHSs. 5. 10. A Study of Biomass Combustion Problems and the Selective Catalytic Oxidation of Ammonia

    Author : Göran Olofsson; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; Energy research; Reaction mechanism; Ammonia degradation; Pt CuO Al2O3 Catalysts; SCO; Selective Catalytic Oxidation; Catalytic hot gas cleaning; Bed agglomeration; NOx emissions; Fluidised bed; Biomass combustion; Biogas; Energiforskning;

    Abstract : Increasing awareness of the need of reducing CO2, NOx and SOx emissions from combustion systems has led to a strong interest in biomass as a fuel source. Using it in combination with fluidised bed combustion technology can lead to a lowering of NOx emissions to the atmosphere. READ MORE
