1. Freshwater, density gradients and biological processes in cold, brackish seas : aspects of the biogeophysical fluid dynamics characterising the Baltic Sea
Abstract : The dominant component in the ocean water is freshwater. In this thesis its mixing and the freshwater-induced dynamics are discussed, with cold, brackish basins such as the Baltic Sea especially in mind. A mathematical framework is derived to allow for a consistent way of adding freshwater effects to the governing equations. READ MORE

2. Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Fluid Lipid Membranes
Abstract : Lipid molecules form thin biological membranes that envelop all living cells, and behave as two-dimensional liquid sheets immersed in bulk water. The interactions of such biomembranes with their environment lay the foundation of a plethora of biological processes rooted in the mesoscopic domain - length scales of 1-1000 nm and time scales of 1-1000 ns. 3. Dynamics of Biomembranes and Rheological Properties of Living Cells
Abstract : An ingenious assembly of biomolecules and water constitute what we call biological tissue. The presence of water in this assembly is fundamental for the physiological processes and can make the difference between life and death. READ MORE

4. Molecular Processes in Dynamic Wetting : Du som saknar dator/datorvana kan kontakta Cathrine Bergh, [email protected] för information
Abstract : The spreading of liquids onto and over surfaces is a fundamental process in nature. It is present in all forms and sizes: From rivers carving through landscapes, to our blood stream transporting nutrients to cells, and even single water molecules moving through channels into these cells. 5. Theoretical Studies of G-Protein-Coupled Receptors
Abstract : The family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) contains the largest number of drug targets in the human body, with more than a quarter of the clinically used drugs targeting them. Because of the important roles GPCRs play in the human body, the mechanisms of activation of GPCRs or ligands binding to GPCRs have captivated much research interest since the discovery of GPCRs.
