16. Development of soft sensors for monitoring and control of bioprocesses
Abstract : In the manufacture of bio-therapeutics the importance of a well-known process is key for a high product titer and low batch to batch variations. Soft sensors are based on the concept that online sensor signals can be used as inputs to mathematical models to derive new valuable process information. READ MORE

17. Does fish health matter? The Utility of Biomarkers in Fish for Environmental Assessment
Abstract : Two common strategies to assess exposure to environmental toxicants are to measure chemical concentrations in the environment and to examine the presence of certain species that are known to be sensit... merive to pollution. READ MORE

18. Microbiological surveillance of biogas plants : focusing on the acetogenic community
Abstract : Biogas process has great potential for reducing the current dependence on fossil fuels and for climate mitigation and sustainable development. In this process organic matter is decomposed under anerobic conditions by microorganisms to form biogas and a nutrient rich biofertiliser. READ MORE

19. Development of adenoviral vectors for monitoring telomerase activity in living cells
Abstract : ABSTRACT Telomerase activity is a potential molecular marker for cancer and primitive cells in regenerative tissues. The most commonly used method to measure telomerase activity in cells is the telomerase reverse amplification protocol (TRAP) assay, where the protein extracts derived from homogenized cells are analysed. 20. Predator responses to non-stationary rodent cycles
Abstract : Regular fluctuations in population size, cycles, are common in small mammals and have important effects on predator populations and life histories. In this thesis, I identify long-term patterns and processes in two specialist predators, the arctic fox Vulpes lagopus and the rough-legged buzzard Buteo lagopus, in relation to their prey (lemmings and voles) and in the case of the arctic fox also to a dominant competitor, the red fox Vulpes vulpes.
