  2. 2. Heat Balance Modeling of a Stationary Fluidized-Bed Furnace Burning Biomass

    Author : Fredrik Niklasson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mixing; modeling; biomass; dispersion; heat balance; fluidized bed boiler;

    Abstract : The influence of biomass fuel properties on the heat balance of the bottom region (bed and splash zone) of a commercial-scale bubbling fluidized-bed furnace is investigated theoretically and experimentally. The experiments have been carried out at the Chalmers 12 MWth research boiler, operated under non-circulating conditions during most of the experiments. READ MORE

  3. 3. Hygroscopic Properties of Aerosols from Open-Air Burning and Controlled Combustion of Biomass

    Author : Jenny Rissler; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cloud condensation nuclei; H-TDMA; CCN; hygroscopic growth; Teknik; internal and external mixture; CLAIRE; SMOCC; Physics; Fysik; Environmental chemistry; Technological sciences; Miljökemi; tandem differential mobility analyzer; slash and burn; Amazon; Biomass burning; combustion; Fysicumarkivet A:2005:Rissler;

    Abstract : The major uncertainty in predicting the influence of human activities on global climate change is the effect of aerosols. Two physical properties of aerosols largely controlling their influence on climate are the particle number size distribution and the interaction of the particles with the surrounding water vapor. Abstract : The use of waste (or recycled) wood as a fuel in heat and power stations is becoming more widespread in Sweden (and Europe), because it is CO2 neutral with a lower cost than forest fuel. However, it is a heterogeneous fuel with a high amount of chlorine, alkali and heavy metals which causes more corrosion than fossil fuels or forest fuel. READ MORE
