  1. 1. Foot-Ankle Joints Responses. Epidemiology, Biomechanics and Mathematical Modeling

    Author : Chantal S. Parenteau; [1996]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mathematical models; biomechanics; range of motion; ankle injury; injury mechanisms; ligament failure; center of rotation; ankle and subtalar joints; ankle fracture;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to acquire better knowledge of foot-ankle injuries because of their increasing importance in car crashes. Three approaches were used: epidemiology, biomechanics and mathematical modeling. READ MORE

  2. 2. The linear and nonlinear biomechanics of the middle ear

    Author : Thomas Wright; Martin Lesser; Viktor Beryuk; [2005]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biotechnology; biomechanics; middle ear models; ossicular chain; Bioteknik; TECHNOLOGY Bioengineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Bioteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the biomechanics of the human middle ear, that part of the auditory system which converts sound pressure waves in air to fluid pressure waves in the cochlea. The middle ear's mechanism is analysed in four papers, three main and one supporting; in the main papers the middle ear is treated as a multi-particle, multi-rigid body ensemble possessing a variable number of degrees of freedom depending upon the case being investigated. 3. 3. Computational Biomechanics in Cross-country Skiing

    University dissertation from Institutionen för ekonomisk och industriell utveckling

    Author : Joakim L. Holmberg; Anders Klarbring; Ingrid Svensson; [2008]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computer simulation; Inverse dynamics; Musculoskeletal; Optimization; Simulation model; Sports; Computational Biomechanics; Cross‐country Skiing; TECHNOLOGY Engineering mechanics; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : Traditionally, research on cross‐country skiing biomechanics is based mainly on experimental testing alone. Trying a different approach, this thesis explores the possibilities of using computational musculoskeletal biomechanics for cross‐country skiing. As far as the author knows, this has not been done before. READ MORE

  4. 4. Comparative in vivo and in vitro studies on the biomechanics of maxillary partial dentures. A methodological and experimental study

    University dissertation from Faculty of Odontology

    Author : Cláudio Pinheiro Fernandes; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; stomatology; biomechanics; Bite force; conical crowns; denture design; in vitro; in vivo; photoelasticity; strain gauges; Odontology; stress analysis.; Odontologi;

    Abstract : Biomechanical aspects are generally agreed to be significant, particularly during the planning of restorative treatments and the design of prosthetic appliances. However, comparative in vivo/in vitro studies show wide differences in the magnitudes and patterns of functional strains in prosthetic devices. READ MORE

  5. 5. Biomechanics of the Human Eye and Intraocular Pressure Measurements

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Darja Ljubimova; Anders Eriksson; Anders Eklund; [2009]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IOP; GAT; ocular biomechanics; corneoscleral envelope; finite element modelling; parametric analysis; TECHNOLOGY Engineering mechanics; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the reliability of Goldmann-type applanation tonometers (GAT). It deals with the investigation of the relation between predicted intraocular pressure, IOPG and true pressure, IOPT. READ MORE
