21. Development of Models, Methods, and Materiel for Deep Tissue Imaging using Light, Ultrasound, and Spectral-Hole Burning
Abstract : The medical imaging technique called “ultrasound optical tomography” (UOT) entails light scattered in tissue that is given spatial information by interacting with an ultrasound field, thus allowing for molecular information to be imaged with ultrasonic resolution. This thesis discusses how UOT can be implemented, with most attention put toward the implementation using spectral-hole-burning filters (SHF) in rare-earth-ion-doped crystals. READ MORE

22. Cerebral arterial pulsatility imaging using 4D flow MRI : methodological development and applications in brain aging
Abstract : 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is increasingly recognizedas a versatile tool to assess arterial and venous hemodynamics. Cerebral arterial pulsatility is typically assessed by analyzing flow waveforms over the cardiac cycle, where flow amplitude is a function of cardiac output, central arterial stiffness, and cerebrovascular resistance and compliance. 23. Image Processing and Analysis Methods for Biomedical Applications
Abstract : With new technologies and developments medical images can be acquired more quickly and at a larger scale than ever before. However, increased amount of data induces an overhead in the human labour needed for its inspection and analysis. READ MORE

24. The Non-Invasive Liver Biopsy : Determining Hepatic Function in Diffuse and Focal LiverDisease
Abstract : The liver is one of the largest organs within the human body and it handles many vital tasks such as nutrient processing, toxin removal, and synthesis of important proteins. The number of people suffering from chronic liver disease is on the rise, likely due to the present ‘western’ lifestyle. READ MORE

25. Non-invasive biomedical analysis : recent advances, challenges, and future perspectives
Abstract : Non-invasive healthcare technologies are increasingly pivotal in research anddevelopment due to their affordability and the convenience they offer to bothhealthcare recipients and providers. Alongside traditional non-invasive methodssuch as ultrasound imaging, a variety of innovative non-invasive devices havebeen developed. READ MORE
