  1. 1. Biomimetic surfaces Preparation, characterization and application

    University dissertation from Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Author : Annika Borgh; Bo Liedberg; Fredrik Höök; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Self-assembled monolayers; biomimetic surfaces; phosphates; antifreeze; surface spectroscopy; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics Atomic and molecular physics Molecular physics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik Atom- och molekylfysik Molekylfysik;

    Abstract : I denna avhandling beskrivs tillverkning, karaktärisering och tillämpning av ett antal biomimetiska ytor. Biomimetik är att härma naturen och grundtanken är att titta på hur naturen löst liknande problemställningar. READ MORE

  2. 2. Biomimetic Membranes: Molecular Structure and Stability Studies by Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Jonathan F.D. Liljeblad; Mark W. Rutland; Magnus C. Johnson; Tore Brinck; Lars Kloo; [2010]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy VSFS ; Langmuir monolayer; LB depositon; phospholipids; oxidation; biomimetic membranes; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Physical chemistry Surface and colloid chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Fysikalisk kemi Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Abstract : In the research presented in this licentiate thesis the surface specific technique Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy, VSFS, combined with the Langmuir trough has been utilized to investigate Langmuir monolayers and Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) deposited mono- and bilayers of phospholipids. Their molecular structure, stability, and hydration were probed to gain additional understanding of important properties aiming at facilitating the use of such layers as model systems for biological membranes. 3. 3. Biomimetic Reactions Water Oxidation and Aerobic Oxidation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Organic Chemistry, Stockholm University

    Author : Lien-Hoa Tran; Björn Åkermark; Nina Kann; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cobalt II salophen; oxygen-activating catalyst; hybrid; manganese complex; epoxidation; water oxidation.; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Organic chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals mainly with two oxidation reactions: water oxidation and aerobic oxidation, both of which have been applied in a biomimetic fashion. In the former reaction molecular oxygen is generated whereas in the latter it was used as terminal oxidant in oxidation reactions. READ MORE
