  1. 1. Risk, Risk Analysis and Decision-making with Reference to Biostatistics and the Field of Medicine

    Author : Per Näsman; Lars-Göran Mattsson; Stephan Ogenstad; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; risk analysis; risk; consequence; system; biostatistics; decision; decision-making; health care; medicine; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Abstract : Risk, risk analysis and decision-making are essential aspects of health care andmedicine, for patients as well as for physicians and for society as a whole, andthe concept of risk and risk analysis in decision-making has a long history. Theword risk has many different interpretations and has no commonly accepteddefinition. READ MORE

  2. 2. Estimation and Inference for Quantile Regression of Longitudinal Data : With Applications in Biostatistics

    Author : Andreas Karlsson; Johan Lyhagen; Ulf Olsson; Kenneth Carling; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Statistics; Bias correction; Bootstrap; Dependent errors; Hypothesis testing; Nonlinear model; Simulation study; Statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of four papers dealing with estimation and inference for quantile regression of longitudinal data, with an emphasis on nonlinear models.The first paper extends the idea of quantile regression estimation from the case of cross-sectional data with independent errors to the case of linear or nonlinear longitudinal data with dependent errors, using a weighted estimator. 3. 3. Nonlinear Quantile Regression for Longitudinal Data

    Author : Andreas Karlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bootstrap; dependent errors; median regression; Monte Carlo simulation; panel data; repeated measures; Statistics; Statistik; Biostatistics; Biostatistik;

    Abstract : The overall objective of the two papers in this thesis is to examine the properties of the weighted nonlinear quantile regression estimator for the analysis of longitudinal data. To this end, the question of which weights to be used, the bias of the estimator and the possibility to calculate confidence intervals has to be examined. READ MORE

  4. 4. Patient stratification and treatment effects in diseases with disturbed cardiac function

    Author : Gabriel Granåsen; Urban Wiklund; Frida Sandberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biostatistics; Heart rate variability; Cardiac amyloidosis; hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; cluster analysis; Echocardiography; Long QT syndrome; Pediatric; Statins; Coronary artery calcium; Computer tomography; Machine learning; Predictive modeling;

    Abstract : Background: Cardiovascular disease characteristics are often measured using a combination of different measurement modalities. By combining information from these modalities using statistical modelling we can gain additional knowledge about these diseases. READ MORE

  5. 5. Network modeling and integrative analysis of high-dimensional genomic data : Nätverksmodellering och integrativ analys av högdimensionell genomikdata

    Author : Jonatan Kallus; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathmatical statistics; Biostatistics;

    Abstract : Genomic data describe biological systems on the molecular level and are, due to the immense diversity of life, high-dimensional. Network modeling and integrative analysis are powerful methods to interpret genomic data. READ MORE
